nice man good looking truck. i saw your build thread and noticed you still havent gotten pods yet. I got some off Amazon for when i load up bikes and things at night, or for the occasional tailgater, for around $20 and are hard to look at they're so bright

Edit: just kidding i didnt read that far into it lol. how have those ditch lights been working? ive been eyeing that setup for a while now

the ditch lights alone outshine my high beams, and you can aim them wherever you need, so they can be up-close or further-out depending on what kind of driving you're doing. The only thing to keep in mind is that the hood gets in the way if they're aimed too low, and you can get a lot of glare from that

I actually just mounted it up today onto the front of my new basket (I'll put it in the build thread once it's all wired up and working)
    image.jpg
I wanted to put it between the front bars of the basket but it didn't fit, so this is the next best thing

Does the rest of the truck block the beam of light? it seems pretty far back on the truck

So far I'm not 100% sure, but I think the bottom will be a bit cut-off. I only need it as a long-range light, so that should be fine since my ditch and headlights should meet that bottom edge of the beam

cool ill have to give them a look. Ive been really impressed with the quality and brightness of these off brand lights, almost as bright as rigids for 1/4 price

I did not read the last four pages.

It is pointless. You can "overland" all you want in a 2WD, just don't leave maintained roads and don't travel in foul weather. There's nothing wrong with doing that either, get out and have some fun. You don't need to spend any money on mods for that either.

If you want to leave the pavement and get out into remote places, you need a properly outfitted four wheel drive vehicle.

Agreed, im not going to wheel through the nastiest stuff out there in a 2WD. Im not going to sit here and be that guy who says a 2wd with a locker is better than 4wd open because theyre 2 different animals. For what i do, 4WD isnt really necessary, and my definition of "overlanding" is going off the beaten path to a secluded place. Obviously you didnt read the thread so ill fill you in-i know the limitations of having a 2WD and what i can do with it. I also know that there are some things i simply wont be able to do in 2wd that a 4x4 can do. I get it. Im just using what i have and am having fun doing it

i wouldn't say "pointless" but I do agree that we're definitely limited by only having 2wd. That being said, in my region there aren't too many situations that call for 4x4, though one of these days I'd like to do a conversion

Too many to list. See build page. Link in signature
I didnt read any of the comments but i have a 2wd open diff with a complete expo/overland build. I have made trips and even filmed with Overlanding USA. One of their recent videos (link below) shows a pretty bad section (doesnt look that bad in video) you'll notice even some of the 4wd guys were skipping. I made it through no problem. With the right tires, clearance, armor, suspension, and a little skills, these trucks can accomplish more than you think. I can make it anywhere that i would ever really want to go. Id like to have a locker sometimes but uve always made it without one. This is not to say that you wont ever need 4x4, but i personally dont go anywhere that its required. My truck gets me everywhere i need to be without issue, and ive done some pretty tough stuff that people were impressed with. You really gotta decide what your going to be doing in the long run. If your locked, thats already a step up in my book. Check out my IG @proforce1 for pics of some stuff i do.

Just around the 4 min mark youll see my truck make it through where 4x4s struggled and they also talk about being 2wd overland as well

    That's the right attitude.

Don't dump thousands of dollars worth of bumpers, winch, lights, skids, etc. on to a two wheel drive. Just take it as it is, spend the money on gas, and put some serious miles and memories behind you.

I've been to some pretty darn cool places I could have driven a mini-van to.

This website has more builders than it does wheelers. Over the years I have witnessed a lot of dudes dump a lot of money into trucks only because they looked at what others had, not what they needed.

Im with you on that one. Im trying to put a cap on how much i spend outfitting it (which hasnt worked out so well) and am just adding a bumper and bed rack and thats about it (not a huge ARB bumper but a less expensive All Pro tube bumper)

If you really want to get out in the remote places, but an ATV or a side by side and tow it out there. There are many days that I wish I would have gone that route from the get go.

Now I own a built truck, a side by side, and an ATV...

I don't advertise that I follow my own advice.

I've just got a camper shell and some lights at this point. I mostly do night-runs in relatively flat desert areas and the only remotely "overland" stuff that I do is sleep in the back and camp for a few days

That works as I've got a quad. Maybe a bed shell is next on the list instead of a bed rack...
