On my old truck I kept my remote fob on a separate ring and would leave the truck running on cold mornings while I ran to get coffee and stuff, locking it with the remote.

It would appear that I can't do that on my 12. The manual suggests there are some dealer programmable options but doesn't really give any detail. Does anyone have a work around other than a remote starter?

There's still a key hole in the door right? Get a plain key to lock and open the door with?

It's easier to carry the fob and one key than two keys, but still a good point.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Install a remote starter. A lot easier to break a window and take a vehicle that's already running.

Couldn't you hit the door lock button next to the window switches, then use the fob to unlock it when you're ready to go?

You shouldn't leave your engine idling anyways so don't worry about it.

I got up early one winter morning this past year and on my drive I saw 3 seperate new F150 Lariats/King Ranch idling in the driveway to warm up.

People think that shit is so cool but I'm willing to bet people have more engine issues with doing that. And my that I mean more wear and tear.

Fastest way to warm the truck up is to drive it.

Yep, 2013 and can't lock the doors with it running and the door opening. I have a remote start so I park, take the keys, hop out, lock the door and then hit the auto start to start it back up if I need to leave it running.

I'm guessing the OP is trying to get away from starting and stopping the engine multiple times. I too plan to see if I can do that with my remote starter when I get one installed.

Hoping I can just press a button on the fob and then remote the keys without the truck shutting down.

That's one way but not the only way............

.....bracket thread to get you started

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/power-sliding-rear-window-bracket-feeler.472282/

useful quote from the thread and a lead on who could help more............

"My understanding is that the kit is easy to assemble as a motor, cabling and wires are all that is needed. The tough part is attaching it to the window in order to slide. And thats what this bracket will accomplish. The wise and Mighty @nazlax10 can elaborate further as he has successfully completed this mod"

I usually jump in my truck cold and drive a mile to my coffee spot. At that point the truck isn't warm and I see a 2nd cold start as worse than idleing.

Start it up; leave key in ignition; get out of truck and use second key to lock door. I do it all the time out my driveway but I live in the middle of some what nowhere so I don't get visitors who likes to takes stuff; Wouldn't trust leaving my truck running even if locked with the key in it anywhere without me keeping a visual on the truck.
