Is it possible to place a custom order for a Tacoma OR Inferno A/T Short bed straight from Toyota and pay them without going to any "stealerships."

No and it's not a Toyota Policy. Lots of legislation makes it impossible to buy directly from manufactures and mandatory to go though dealers. Tesla is currently challenging the current model but don't expect any changes to be made for at least the near future.

That really sucks.. Why can't the car buying be easy as it is like in Amazon, choose what you want, pay for shipping fee, and deliver it???

That is exactly what Elon Musk is trying to do. There's a thousand factors that go into why the current system is in place. Most of it comes down to what helps Ford, GM, FCA and many other foreign manufactures because they have the most clout (money) in DC. The current dealership model helps manufactures make money on multiple fronts and not just the initial sale of the car.

Do you need to know, or care?
Plus the plant in Texas wouldn't be able to keep up with the line up of owners waiting to get their tranny fluid checked and dipsticks unstuck.

HAHA!! I feel your pain on dealerships. Especially toyota which had the hardest time locating or getting the truck we wanted built and shipped here. I gave one out of state dealership with great pricing a month to locate one. I finally went to a local dealer who was trying to get my business and told them what they would have to do and if they couldn't i wouldn't be buying from them. They both found a trucks being built within two months on the day I went to the local dealer which got my business.

I say toyota because I've never bought another brand that didn't have what I wanted on the lot or couldn't get it the next day from another dealer. Salesman at both dealerships acted like they couldn't believe you would want to negotiate and would look somewhere else.
