    I change the oil in all our vehicles in the fall no matter the mileage. That means right around 5k for the Taco this year.

    10k intervals are fine for the 2TR.
    Toyota says so, and plenty of company 2TR equipped trucks surpass 300k miles with 10+K intervals and heaps of 'company vehicle' abuse.

    Change it when you want, 3,5,10k... whatever makes you feel good when you get in your truck. 10k makes me feel good, the facts show it’s fine so that’s when I’ll do it. Most of you won’t keep your truck long enough to know if it did any good or not. :crazy:

    Currently running Goodyear DuraTracs with "ghetto" wheels
    Some folks are missing the fact Toyota recommends scheduled maintenance based on miles, months and/or special operating conditions.

    Only the owner/driver and not other forum members or even the dealership can determine the proper scheduled maintenance intervals.

    The best method for proper oil change interval for your truck OP is the following. Choose your oil of preference and do a series of oil analysis tests (about 3 tests to develop a trend). The lab will give you a recommendation on what an appropriate OCI should be for your vehicle.

    I'd change the oil on a new one before 10k, then go to 10k intervals. I did just under 4k, and 10/20/30/40k since. I sent the first change and 40k to Blackstone. I made a thread with the results.

    I run mobil 1 full syn 15,000 mile and change it once a year. been doing it for a few years now on a couple different cars. Form me its about being really busy and all the other things to spend money on.

    90% of people that still do oil changes at 3,000-7,000 miles have no evidence that its actually needed.

    the limited research that ive done has made it clear that modern synthetic oil takes a very long time to start to break down and loose its lubricating properties, far longer than any sane vehicle owner will go between changes.

    I did free maintenance from the dealership up to 25k. I do my own now. I check my oil at least every 2,500 miles and my last one I did with synthetic, it still has a semi good amber color, little dark but after 10k but I changed it anyways.
    Just check it every few thousand miles. If it gets dark or black change it. Might change from driver to driver and use on truck.
    You always want to check a few thousand mile for levels and color. Takes literally seconds.
