Is it still worth buying a 2023 Tacoma?

So you won't put your money where your mouth is.

Increases in other vehicles- both of which are bigger and more expensive than the Tacoma, are not accurate predictors of things to come for the Tacoma. Toyota knows their market, and they're not going to throw it away- especially with an economic downturn coming.

So I'm seeing all of this noise regarding the pricing of the next Tacoma generation; I just went back and looked at the Apples-to-Apples price changes between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 lineup, and again between the Gen 2 and Gen 3 line up. The base price of the lowest cost Tacoma between 2015 and 2016 had the highest percentage year over year gain of 11.4%; most others were between 7.1% and 10.0%.

I stated the above to say this, I'm having a difficult time wrapping my brain around even a $5,000 price bump for a base Gen 4 Tacoma; not saying it isn't going to happen that way, but if I was a betting man, I'd bet for no more than a 15% bump in prices, or, said another way, a $49,390 TRD Pro for 2023 will have an MSRP of no more than $56,799 on the absolute high end.

Pro4X Frontiers and TREMOR Rangers are still both low 40s. Your standard TRD Tacoma price isn't going very much higher unless Toyota wants to give up marketshare. Maybe they'll bump the Pros to get more markup from the people that really want that model.

Buy a 3rd gen, when the gen 4 is unveiled and you like it, wait a couple years after the 4th gen comes out so toyota has time to fix any potential issues, trade in your 3rd gen for a chunk of change off of the 4th gen you're getting. Considering how well these trucks hold value...

    Couldn't agree more. There's no way we'll see a $10,000 price increase.

Didn't the Tundra TRD trim see 10K when it transitioned from the V8 to V6TT?

The g4 will most likely have the 2.4i motor. You get a few more horsepower and slightly more torque, smaller engine, same gas mileage. And I'm going to guess the g4 is going to be 10 to 15% more than a g3.

I think what Rivian and Tesla do great is that you order online and pay the price you see (from what I assume at least). Don't have to deal with BS sales people. I test drove a Model 3 at a 'showroom' or whatever they're called and had a great experience. Just couldn't pull the trigger because the value didn't seem great for what it costs.

I don't believe a manual trans will make it to the 4th gen for sales numbers and extra R&D/engineering. What do you think is the determining factor is of why 3 pedals won't make it to the 4th gen?

It’s not fun to read that but I doubt it has any practical, real life implications around the function or longevity of toyota vehicles

You're confusing direct and honest communication with rudeness.
