    2007 Tacoma w/tow pkg
    Hi everyone

I need some general help, I have 155k on my 2007 Tacoma, about 25k towing. I had the transmission power flushed at 95k. (plugs replaced too) At the time I had discussed and made notes on my maintenance invoice to do the power flush & plug replacement in another 60K miles Now with 155K miles and a long towing trip planned in early August. Should I get the work done again? or can I put this off?

Does anyone have a link/schedule on when to do the transmission power flush on Tacoma's that are used for towing?

    Thanks
    Mike

I don't know if there is a schedule for a tranny flush but just for peace of mind I will be doing mine at 50K because I tow alot. It can't hurt and you may just save yourself a problem later.

You don't need to take it in to have it "Power flushed" Those places usually charge about $100 for an easy flush.
Disconnect the rubber return line from the radiator to the transmission.(there are two lines A Supply and Return) Replace the return line with longer hose and aim it into a drain pan.
Start the motor. Let a half quart or so drain out. Stop the motor. Add more transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. Disconnect the line again and start the engine. Drain another 1/2 quart out.Keep repeating the process till it runs clean. Top up slowly so as not to overfill.

OP, just do a drain and fill, not a power flush.

The 2nd gen 4.0 tacos don't have a dipstick for the transmission.

    OK , no dipstick.
I'd hook up a funnel at the intake line to the transmission. Add a longer hose with a funnel.
Start by getting the same size line as stock. Cut a section off about an inch in length. Slip it on the transmission hard line. Add another oversized hose ( the same size inside diameter as the outside diameter of the first hose) to it so you can now insert a funnel.
Start the engine with a helper adding new transmission fluid as the old comes out the radiator or trans cooler. Whatever is the last cooler before it re-enters the transmission.

    Not quite that simple. Here's a good write-up: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-drain-refill-automatic-transmission.63851/

Running a bigger cooler will keep it temps down. Keeps the fluid happy. Possibly extending your drain intervals.
