If there is any damage to the firewall section then it should be totaled.

Is there anything I can say to insurance adjuster to push them toward that?

If the frame is bent badly then they should goal it but push for it by saying you don't feel safe driving a truck that had been in an accident.

You can definitely work them. Make sure you're around while they look at it. Keep talking about how you know it'll never be the same after it's fixed, and how you don't even want it anymore.

Point out every little thing you see that might be wrong, in a friendly, but bummed out way.

Be nice. They might feel for you and sharpen their pencil a bit.

The auto shop will find out if this is true or not.

You gotta take pics of the firewall section. If there is structural damage to this section, 99% of the time they will totaled the vehicle due to structural deficiency and won't protect the occupants from the engine components if it is in a future collision. A big liability issue for the insurance companies.

My instinct is that your truck is totalled but it's hard to say for certain. I wrecked my truck in January with less damage to the front but it rolled onto the driver's side and banged up the cab, box etc. After one look from the tow driver, body shop and claims adjuster they each said it was totalled right off the bat. The side curtain bags (4) deployed but the front did not. I was grateful that the ins. co. totalled it without a fight. My '09 DCLB sport with 86K settled out for 25K. Now I'm in a new '13 and my payments are less than half of what they were.
I hope things work out for you.

Your frame is compressed. It's totaled. Sorry. (Look at the last few photos where that plate that connects the upper and lower frame sections...on the lower section the spacing is off and you can see the plate is bowed.)

Are you talking about the plastic splash guard, between frame and body?

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree there.

I didn't realize you could get a blank license plate issued for the front in Wisconsin lol
OP glad your OK. With a impact like that you'd think the air bag would deploy. Kind of curious why it didn't. Hope you have a good outcome.

Daaayyyyummm! I'm guessing yes totaled on that. Really glad no one was hurt in a major way.

I was the front seat passenger in a 06 Tacoma that was broadsided on left front wheel side about that hard. Both front bags blew on that one I never will forget the smell of that powder charge or whatever it is. Or the sound of the impact either.

Phew!! Lot of damage, I'd have to say totaled, but only your adjuster can say. I just went through the insurance nightmare, they have it down to a science. Used to be you could get your body shop to finagle a way to avoid paying your deductible, but no more. They know every single penny and where it goes. And I mean literally down to the penny. Parts obviously, but the labor too, measured in 100ths of an hour!! My rear quarter panel, they had 1.63 hours allotted for paint. Kidding me? I hope they total it, but remember that deductible!! It won't be free, whatever happens.

However hopefully they catch up with the at fault person and hopefully that person has insurance. In that case his company should cover it all with no deductable to you. If it's not totaled and they repair it, then you should also be owed additional compensation for "diminished value", depends on the state laws.

Keep us posted...I buy these from insurance companies and might buy yours direct - skipping the middle men. Depends on your buy back and how much you want on top of that.

Glad you are okay...and I agree with others that the airbag should have blown.

So I haven't gotten the final report back yet but I talked to the body shop (owned by a family friend) and he said that they want to fix it. That there's only about $8000 in damage and it'll take 4-5 weeks. I'm throwing a shit fit. I honestly don't trust that vehicle. The airbags didn't go off and me shoulders don't feel right and me back hurt. And they are going to either put me in a rental for a damn month? Or if they don't I'll lose my brain.
