Trade in a 2017 sr5 2wd with 13k miles for a 2016 trd off road 4wd with 45k miles? Will be almost an even trade, no extra money or $1k more at the most.

I believe I would . But dont just rely on a car fax look it over REAL good . Might help to bring a bodyman with you to look for signs of accidents. It's got low miles . I would be very sceptical. Sounds to good to be true . Use a scan tool to see if there are any stored codes while your at it.

I personally would not trade a newer car with less miles to a older car with more miles. Just my 2 cents. I say go new if you want 4x4 , don't have to deal with someones eles seat farts.

Is 4x4 a requirement for you? That's a pretty high mileage difference to trade for 4wd.

Completely depends on if you need the 4wd or not. The idea of going from lower to higher mileage raises flags for me, but on the other hand, 45k isn't a ton. Personally, I spent the last 6 years in a jeep wrangler unlimited sport that I loved and had lifted, bumpers, etc and wheeled it and had a blast, but in the back of my mind always wished it was a Rubicon. With this truck, I went TRDOR from the start because I knew it was what I wanted and didn't want to be left wanting something else.

At the end of the day, if you know you really want the OR, and you know you're going to keep it a while and can afford it, then just do it. Also, take some time and search nation wide. Find a really good deal and make a fun trip out of it.

Miles aren't that low. I have a 2016 with 18K on the clock. I get to telework 2 to 3 days a week, and my commute when I do go into the office isn't very far.

45K is what we'd call "Texas Normal" where people average about 20K a year.

I would make sure the diff was checked, and look for the Carfax.

If you are wanting 4x4 maybe you should considering buying new, they have $1000 rebate plus they will probably have good end of the model year deals.

69k on my 17, about to hit 70k tomorrow

That said I don’t know why anyone buys a used 16/17

For the prices people “say” they paid for their used 16/17, one can easily get a new 18 with some deft negotiation

    4WD rocks.

It’s state dependent. Many places there are no sales tax

In Ohio, the sales tax would only be the difference between value

My 16 and 17 was purchase in OR and titled in MT. No sales tax. When I traded my 16 in for 17, thus we get no difference either

My 18 for the farm was purchased in CA, but MT titled so no sales tax either

Of course, none of my vehicles ever are physically in MT, it is just used by me to obfuscate the 9% taxes here and give middle finger to my loser state :D

Additional benefit is doing catless exhausts on my sports cars, and dump fuel in the face of the Prius and Mirai owners locally since I don’t have to be subjected to emission as a “MT resident” :)

Most states have sales tax, my point is buyers will trade in a vehicle, specifically buying a vehicle and pay another $2-$3k in sales tax while only keeping it for a year or two.

It even applies to private parties. I’m not saying I agree with it. Sales tax should not be applied to private party sales, but they are since it’s a titled asset and they can track it.

On another note, if you buy an auto in Delaware tax free and register here in PA or most any other state, you’ll pay sales tax.

I can't imagine that being worth it. Why didn't you buy a 4x4 to begin with? Doesn't seem like you need it.

I live around Atlanta so I do not "need" 4WD, and I probably wouldn't off road it hardcore like some of you do but lately I have been getting into going to mountains and spots like that for Kayaking, Hiking and it would be nice to have just in case.

Normally I wouldn't consider it since the vehicle is so new, and used tacomas are so expensive but trading in 25k miles for a trim and 4wd upgrade is quite tempting due to the OR price(Which could be due to a bad reason, but I have seen 2 priced nearly identical in a toyota dealership and the other one in a carmax)

I bet I could use this vehicle for another year and barely lose any value on it and see what's out there then, so that's another option.

Ga has tax credit for trade ins so I wouldn't pay any tax.
