I can't imagine any states that wouldn't only charge you tax on the difference, not tax the entire amount. If so, that is pretty crazy.

He (OP) had a 16 SR

    Then he got a 17 SR5

Logically he is jusy trading up new model slowly while tasting all of Toyotas offerings :D

    Many states have that option

Which is one of the reasons people trade in to dealer

You can thank dealer lobbying groups for such laws

If it has snorkel, definitely worth it

I was waiting for new tundra, still no updates. My 17 pro 6mt has 70k miles tomorrow

I am going to replace it with 19 Voodoo Blue Pro6MT with snorkel

My dealer just got allocation for 2019 Pro, and I gave them my $500 deposit last night

If the 2020 Tundra supposed redesign has decent mileage and they don't do any retarded engineering decisions then I would heavily consider that as well. This truck was supposed to hold me over till that time lol

What about selling your truck and buying a new truck, I'm sure you would have to deal more cash. Just a thought

    Oh well

V6 TT like LS already confirmed for 300 series land cruiser. Tundra can’t be far behind

You are correct but the GA tax credit means that the extra 2k I could probably get for selling privately is what I will save in tax when I trade it in.

I got an amazing deal on the vehicle so selling it privately I might lose like 1k but as usual the tax for a new one is what kills it lol. Not in a hurry to sell or anything but after giving it some thought I do intend to drive a tacoma for 10 years until the next one or maybe keep it until the wheels fall off so maybe getting 4WD would be smart in the long run for a lifelong vehicle.

If not really needing 4x4 and just going hiking / camping trails and such, another option might be to just add a locker to the 17 sr5 2wd. If you could find a e-locked 3rd member, it would be pretty easy. Otherwise, aftermarket locker.

A 2wd with a locker is pretty capable so yes! it's a great option although at around $1.5K+ for the install and parts it's a bit pricey but a lot less hassle than going trading in, selling or whatever for a 4wd.

Ah. Makes sense. I've only been on one long road trip, and that was still less than 800 miles.

Don't do it,keep what you have, put a locker in the rear of your 2wd and you will be able too do 90 % of any offroading, thats what I did.
