That is a fair price if you ask me, I bought a 2014 double cab 4x4 with 209k miles one owner that was in excellant condition back in July. I paid $15600 for it. Truck prices have gone up since then.

I should have bought my truck in Texas. The Taco tax here in Colorado is bananas.

I just bought the OR version of that truck and paid a lot more.

if you have the vin, you could also punch it into carvava's system to see what they would give you for trade in.

This is why I opted new back in Sep, 2020. I started looking at ones a few years old with xx miles, but the prices to new were close enough for me to go new. This is despite the fact that I had the added costs of sales tax, higher excise (local) tax, and ins. I just hope that years from now when I'm ready for another new one, used prices are still strong.

6" lift, 20 " inch rims, 34" tires, billet grill, aftermarket fender flares, custom rear bumper, DVd player with backup camera, all LED lights
I bought my truck maybe 2 years ago. 2007 with 138,000 miles for $17,000 well taken care of and with good maintenance records, also a Florida truck so no rust. It did have a bunch of upgrades on it (34" tires with 22" rims, Billit grill, aftermarket fender flares, LED light upgrades, 6" lift, 4.88 upgraded gears, so the extra cost I was willing to pay. I paid $17,000 for it. Considering all the upgrades, lower mileage and condition it was in I found it to be a fair deal. Everything else was selling out from under me before I could get to it and examine it and this one already had the upgrades I wanted so I closed the deal. Not sorry at all. Heck I got my truck payments down to a little over $250 a month by putting some money down on it and getting a good loan rate.

I thought I found the one I wanted in GA and was ready to drive down and buy that thing. IT was beautiful inside and out. I had been looking for a month for a truck. On a whim I asked the salesman to take some pics of the undercarriage and text them to me while I was making plans to drive up and get it the next day. Darn thing was rusted to hell. Pulled a carfax on it and it showed the dealer had recently purchased the truck at an auction in the rust belt. It had spent its whole life up north. Never would have guessed that since it was being sold in GA.

For me the main concern would be "has the truck had maintenance regularly done", any frame rust, or has it been in any major accidents. If those things check out pull the trigger even if it is a little more than you want to pay. These darn trucks are hard enough to get your hands on one especially if it is well maintained and in good shape. If it doesn't fit your criteria then be patient, keep looking, and the right one will come along. Meanwhile, get your financing together so when you do find the one you want you can pull the trigger quick before it gets sold out from underneath you.

I've considered new as well but I think the 4.0L engine and transmission on the older 2nd gen is well-favored compare to the newer 3.5L engines and new transmission on the 3rd gens.

2013 Tacoma DC with a TRD package and 4WD will sell easily for that price in the DFW area. Post some pics.

    EDIT: Great buy!, nice truck.

That is a steal of a deal. I paid 18,000 for a 2007 with 156,000 and a rusted frame in my area. Absurd Toyota tax in Charleston. (frame was later replaced free by Toyota)

Yeah, more power is always nicer, I agree. I have had two Chevys and a old Jeep pickup over the years, so this is my first Tacoma. I guess I have no firsthand Tacoma reference point, but have no complaints so far.

That would be $19,000-$22,000 where I’m at so yes the price is good. Just need to verify the condition of the truck.
