Folks I am reconsidering my options I still want the PT package but I am thinking I will go without JBL. Is the non JBL system up to par? I noticed that I can get the PT package with moonroof and no JBL. For those who have JBL is it worth the additional cost? Is it that much better than the non JBL system?

I think those with JBL will say its great and those without are going to say you don't need it. Sound systems are pretty subjective. I was in the same position as you when I ordered my truck last month and decided to go without JBL. I have enough old school car audio in my basement from my days as an installer that I will probably replace it anyway, JBL or not...

I went from a factory Alpine system in my 13 Ram to the Tacoma without JBL. If I could have gotten the JBL as a stand alone option I would have but didn't care for the premium package. I quite happy with the way the base system sounds but if you like a lot of bass then the JBL is probably for you.

If you want the best factory sound, get the JBL. If you want the best sound, go aftermarket.

Yes. My 2011 DCLB had it, as well. Wonderful system, made better by the tech added this year.

I opted for it, happy I did. Sounds better than the jbl in my last Tacoma. If you're getting the premium and tech package anyway I'd add the jbl, but I wouldn't get all that just to get the jbl if that makes sense.

I got the JBL Audio system and I like it a lot. Much more improved over the second gen. So far I've tried bluetooth music, audio, and phone calls and have no complaints.

Agreed.. It's subjective. I have the JBL and can confirm that I love it and it's better than the premium sound I had in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherikee Limited.

It's got a good amp which means no distortion at high volume and full sound at lower volumes. Plenty of bass for me. Just my .02.

Yes, it's worth it. Otherwise, you will hear 440hz harmonics in the cab.

Difficult to do when there are many dealers without both on their lot. Sounds easier than done in some areas.

I love mine without jbl, I do however think jbl has pretty good sound so either one will suit your needs

A buddy of mine had Jbl in his second gen. The bass hit a little harder than my mom Jbl second gen.
I personally didn't think I was missing out going non Jbl especially if you're planning on upgrading later.

For what you would pay at the dealership for the JBL package, you could purchase a better aftermarket setup. If you don't like messing with aftermarket parts on your truck, then the JBL system would be better than the "standard" system. It's personal preference honestly.

3" lift kit, complete sound system, more to come..... just got this truck
My step dad has a 2013 with the JBL and I have a 2005 wihtout it, I do have a sound system in mine that is not JBL now,but when Mine was stock I did not like it. I do like my step dads JBL system in his and I would concider it if you can afford the extra money for it.

The way I see it... You only have to potential to regret not getting it. I don't ever see myself saying... I wish my audio didn't sound so good.. I shouldn't have got the upgraded sound.

if you want a decent sound from the factory, get it
If you want a good quality sound and are willing to do it yourself after the fact, do that.
