As someone who grew up driving Honda manuals (the best in the business) and still daily drive a '95 Civic, the manual in the Tacoma is clunky, has vague clutch engagement, throws that are too long, and was clearly designed by someone who doesn't drive a manual and understands what a good manual 'feels like'. And the gearing ratios make no sense. I don't buy the excuse 'it's a truck, so lower your standard'. Once you've had the best...

All of this I knew even before my test drive (thanks to this forum), and I'd take the manual over the auto any day. It's like a quirky friend that can be annoying sometimes but is still damn fun to hang with.

Have you considered doing an Accumulator delete? It makes the Truck drive as it shold. Predictable and consisten grab points. No more "RPM swell" when revmatching. The biggest improvement for me was reverse.

To fix Reverse you need to do the 2LO mod, it's wonderful.

I love my manual . But it is a bit clunky when shifting at times . It took me sometime to get used to it coming from a challenger r/t .
