So in an earlier post I had asked why the rod in my front suspension was showing at the top where the strut mount is. I came to the conclusion that it’s because it didn’t have a lower bushing on top of the dust boot. I’ve been driving it for about a week like that. So my question is, is my suspension shot? Or should I add those bushings asap to prevent further wear?

I'm not a pro but I'm pretty sure you're not suppose to see your rod sticking out the top of the strut mount ever.

Edit: I wouldn't say your front end suspension is completely fucked, but stop driving on it and get it looked at by someone more experienced, also, post photos.

You wont know until you take it apart.....

and depends on whats all missing......just the bushing....or the cup that presses that...

without a bushing ......the tang on top of the shock rod that catches on that cup will eventually chew thru......
.....if its that bad, it should be loose....obvious....

doubt anything is damaged.....just need to be careful until looked at...

There’s a top bush. No bottom bushings

It’s just the dust boot under the strut mount. No washer or bushing. Nothing.

That actually looks alright, but do you know anyone who can verify that in person for you and won't try to screw or up sell you? On a similar note, you need a new spring seat insulator because yours is torn up.

Edit: I also recant my statement about never seeing the rods sticking out the top. When you said that I assumed there was a whole foot long rod sticking through it.

what should I look at when I take it off. I use to be a elevator mechanic and would deal with similar parts. Just look at the rod for kinks and see if it’s leaking hydraulic fluid from the strut?

Well, I honestly think they look fine because this diy guy did it and his look just like yours.

Edit: To answer your question, my amateur understanding is, yes, look for leakage and kinks. I believe these should only mount in one way if they are “clocked” correctly when put together. I’m assuming someone else installed these for you?

Here’s the bushing/washer kit that came with my Bilstein 5100’s & Eibach coils.
Note - I do not have this set up anymore

Yeah, that's not right, and you are missing something in the stack. Its probably OK to drive, but not great. You're running the risk of collapsing or extending the shock further than designed, which will cause the shock to fail. It's been a long time since I have run OEM style coilovers, so I won't be of much help in that regard, but did want to chime in because of the following quotes are incorrect.

    Nope.

    Also Nope.
