Update, I put in the new reservoir tank and I haven't lost any fluid, and after the cap no over heating, and I drove up the mountain I live on (pretty much going from 400ft above sea level to 5800 above sea level) and I was going pretty fast on the way up, so I'd say that was the fix! Thanks for everyone's help!

after engine rebuild at 450,000 my truck starts rough. shakes for a little while and it does not idle smooth no engine check like, had a compression test down along with leak down test and a cooling system pressure test. nothing significant wrong with any of those tests

I imagine it's a throttle/fueling issue. yes, there are lots of tests that can be done. Failing fuel pumps are notorious for not throwing codes until they are on the verge of dying completely.
