Is my hood seal at the windshield messed up?

This picture is taken on the drivers side looking down at the where the hood meets the windshield. I'm not sure if this is the right name for the part but I'm wondering if there's supposed to be that big a gap between the hood and the black plastic seal itself. Behind it, you can see almost what looks like a vent or something so I'm not sure if that's supposed to be expposed.

A while back during another ice storm I was chipping ice out from this area and I did deform the piece a little bit but I thought I put it back to where it originally was but I can't remember if this was like this. The plastic is pretty hard and not very malleable but it is kind of cold out so I'm not sure.

Anyway, just wondering if this is how this normally looks on this side of the hood because the other side is a much tighter gap. Thanks!

Yep, normal. The actual sealing is under the windshield glass itself.
