That is the size he is using. It is a 33 just like the 285s, but they are skinnier. 285 is too wide to fit without a lift. If you want 33s with no lift, search for the pizza cutter thread, it will have all of the info.

I’ve been reading that for the last hour. It’s why when I was told they won’t fit I nearly had a Brain aneurism

Nothin wrong with the Limited at all . Mine was the the exact color I wanted, a 4x4 and all the bells and whistles that I appreciate on my long highway drives. I knew eventually I was going to replace the chrome bits....much cheaper than paying for after market leather, sound system, moon roof, tonneau cover, tow package etc etc that come standard with the Limited. None of the other trims around at the time had even half of these features that I use....and I had planned on replacing the suspension and wheel/tires no matter what trim I went with so...it was the best choice for me at the time. I’m sure your gonna love it, they are a bit more scarce out in the wild compared to the trd OR’s and sports...kinda love it even more because of that as well and I’m sure you will too, enjoy!...she’s plenty offroad capable believe me...some good AT’s and she’ll take you places you won’t believe with ease :D.

Not knocking anyone's choice of trim, but the Limited looks like every other truck in TX. The first Tacoma I ever saw that I thought looked sweet was a 2017 Blue TRD Off-road with Pro grill and TRD wheels.

It stood out because of a lack of chrome. Knowing what I know now, I should have not been so hasty to dismiss the Limited, but it was going for a premium where I live so the TRD Off-road hit a sweet spot on price.

It’s so crazy, here in the used market the limitless go for as much as $3,000.00 cheaper then a TRD Sport. Makes no sense

I wish that guy would take his video off YouTube or update it. He came back and reported he still had rubbing and it’s spreading a lot of bad information.

Ya totally man. Where I live the chromed out trucks are usually all the lifted domestics that drive like a holes...I’m generally not a fan of chrome, like at all. In reality it’s not completely blinged out or overdone in my opinion. It’s “livable” for the time being . Vast majority of the tacos around here are OR’s...like a shit ton. Couple of guys at my station have OR’s even though I know they don’t take it offroad...like ever lol. My Limited as seen much more of the wilderness than they will ever. People get what they get, same reasons people prefer blondes over brunettes...or visa versa. Like I said in another post somewheres, these trucks are like 95% the exact same across the board...they are amazing no matter the trim.

Short box double cab is not a legacy Toyota pickup. It’s become a regular thing because the “people” have spoken, and these are replacing minivans. In no way is it a “real” taco, if we’re talking purist Toyota pickups. And the reason why limiteds aren’t held up as the champions of the Toyota pickup line, is just perception. Speaking for myself, I never saw the purpose of a LUXURY Toyota pickup, because it’s fundamentally a small off-road utility truck. But that means jack shit, because in the end, it’s still a Toyota pickup :) though it’s fun to make fun of because it’s so cushy and soooooft.

It is absolutely not bunk in any way. I would run it, if given one. Only after immediately un chroming it. A double cab however, I wouldn’t. I would sell it and get an access.

I came from an FJ which has a full back seat but access doors. First time I rode in the back I started looking for a full door option.

So in a way you could say that my preference evolved. It happens. BTW, first thing I did with FJ was black out the silver trim.

It’s finny to me cuz it’s like having a loaded Tacoma makes you a poser or something lol. I will be taking it off road and really didn’t give a crap about the leather. I really shake my head cuz it was so much cheaper then a more basic model.

Thanks man. I 100% agree on the chrome. It’s gotta go ASAP. Just looking into the most affordable way to delving it without making it look ghetto.

Lol, I love the FJ but have a family and need the 4 doors. I want it to be fun but also super practical. It’s why the mods I will do will always be family focused first.

Called a tire shop here in Edmonton and he feels that he can make the 285 fit. If not the pizza cutters are bloody friggin expensive and pretty limited with options.

The straight answer is you’re going to rub at full lock most likely and if you take it off road. Can you swing suspension right now? If you can, I’d go ahead and do it since you want 33”. I went with 265/75/16 until I get my lift before I go up to 285’s.

Honestly, they’re probably manageable as long as you don’t do anything crazy while still on stock suspension if you wanna push back the fender liners.

If the cost is an issue for the pizza cutters just get 265s. Even they rub, but just barely and surely not enough to warrant any trimming. 285s will require some work. Consensus on here is to fit them you have to trim something. Tire shop can only do so much.

Ya mine was the same price and even a little less than the trd models. My need was simple, I needed a bed...I haul lumber and deliver my furniture..also go fly fishing whenever I find time to get away. I enjoy blue-lining and searching for areas less traveled to pursue my passion. I love the solitude of being on the river with absolutely no one in sight. I also spend a lot of time on “pavement” as it’s a daily for highway and what not. I test drove an OR, my 2nd gen has cloth seats and I just didn’t like it..I preferred the firmer more supportive leather as I’m a pretty large guy and remembered sinking into my old cloth seats on longer drives..plus gettting to different sections of the river in my wet and gross waders is soooo much easier to keep clean and wipe down than my old cloths were . As far as posers go?...my definition differs I guess...posers in my mind are the truck owners that rock the OR set up with all the added aftermarket tacticool stuff...and rarely take it off the streets....don’t even get me started on the guys who roll in heavy duties and duallys who never tow anything or live in apartments??.
