I do bi-weekly payments on both my F150 and my wifes Highlander. It helps out tremendously on my budget plus it knocks down how long I have to pay for. I get that technically its still the same payment per month but instead of having to pay $xxx at one time, it helps spread it out. Paying bi-weekly has helped me pay off all of my credit card debt, my wifes student loan and knock a huge chunk of my car loans.

Best view in Vegas, but you must have been withing driving distance, with only the wedding and a dinner for two.

I can barely get two tickets to Vegas and make past the airport slot machines for 2K. LOL

You budget hasn’t changed. Same amount of money going out. Just in smaller amounts. I completely understand the concept. It’s forced you to quit wasting money between between monthly payments which is good. And yes on year it makes make one extra payment which you probably wouldn’t do on your own. Glad it’s working and hope your realize debt is horrible.

Unfortunately...I think there is nothing that is gonna prevent the OP from being in this same situation in 2 years...and 2 years after that...and 2 years after that...and 2 years after that...etc. People who have no idea how to manage money rarely learn. However, I do wish him luck, and hope he will figure out that debt is the enemy.

I have a feeling that if this actually helps your financial situation...then you're gonna be in another bad financial situation very soon.

That's a somewhat tunnel visioned way to look at it. Everyone learns differently, everyone budgets differently, everyone is different. This method doesn't work for me but I can completely understand that it has for others. Whether it's because it keeps you focused or because you don't spend it elsewhere, doesn't really matter so long as it works.

I'm blessed in that I have enough money set aside that if I receive a bill, I can pay it without thinking about where the money comes from (within obvious reason, I don't buy things outside of my financial ability). Some people live paycheck to paycheck and there's no reason they shouldn't be allowed to have nice things if they can budget it properly.

All of that being said, none of what I just said applies to OP. OP needs to go to some financial planning classes ASAP.

How did you get such a deal on your PT package 700.00. I paid 2500 for mine. And yes there are manyOR without 4x4 just go to California. I was out there for 2 weeks last year and damn near every Tacoma did not have 4x4

That about taps my math skills, but yes I do understand it adds up to the same amount. It seemed stupid to me at first too, but it has helped MY budget...that may tie back into those math skills...

I mean....that's just like, your opinion, man. I won't be the guy that tells you how rad my credit score is, or how money smart I am, but I will say I'm doing fine.

That’s a bit harsh. Don’t know his situation, things could have changed that led to things getting tight. 2 cents.

Maybe. How bout this if you don’t have at least 12 months of all bills set aside in a savings account, you have no business buying a 40k truck. Not being prepared is just as bad imo.

It's actually not stupid, if you make a $400 payment once a month that's $4800 per year. A $200 payment every 2 weeks is $5200 per year.

Seems smart to me to pay it off quicker.

Yes, if your not self disciplined enough to do it yourself this is a good way pay something of a bit earlier.

    Of all bills? Good lord.

Most of the people on this forum are in America, most people in America do not have a full year of ALL their bills tucked away in savings. By your logic and through the magic of pulling numbers out of thin air, about 5% of people driving $40k vehicles should actually own one. Savings and a retirement fund is something everyone should have, no argument from me on that, but since finance and credit is not a topic that is taught in schools and we have an abundance of predatory lenders and an economy driven by fomo marketing... If you don't have anything helpful to offer, why don't you sit this thread out?

I’m sure that being that prepared in life is probably a odd concept for most because most people choose stuff over the later and think cause they pay all there bills they’re doing great but if they loose their job they don’t have the money to pay the mortgage, car payment, groceries , phone bill etc. so it could be a 3, 6 , 9 buffer whatever you choose. The point was being prepared for the worst case scenario and not needing it, or have to sell your car, loose your house etc when worst case happens or even just a really bad bump in the road.

Guy I work with is in this situation, but hes like 3 trucks deep. Owes about 80k on a Chev Trail Boss worth maybe 40k tops? At like 7% interest to boot.
I agree with this, unless your extremely strapped. Make it work drive it till you can't no more.

Everyone says buying new is a very poor financial decision but in my opinion if your going to keep it for 10+ years your further ahead than buying used if you look after your truck.

If he keeps one guy from buying a $40k truck he can't afford I'd say he has something helpful to offer. When I needed a reliable car and didn't have much money I bought a New base model S-10 with no A/C, no radio, no power anything for less than than half of what I wanted to spend. Too many go in deep debt and are unwilling to wait a little while to get something nice. Paying interest on a depreciating asset is about the worst thing you can do.

I own a wedding venue and I will be the first one to tell couples that unless they have family paying for it, or are doing well, they better off spending the money on a downpayment for their first home.

Starting off in debt, over a one night party, isn't a good start imo. o_O
