I have the same company, but I guess because my wife was late with a payment, I wasn't technically covered on that day, so I'm kinda on my own against my own insurance company.

If they are coming to your house let the appraiser do his work. He is going to take a ton of pics if the truck inside and out to condition it and run a value on the truck to see what its worth. Then he will write the estimate to the magic number and let you know if its a total loss. If it is a total loss and you think the value is low go through your insurance company and see if they value the truck higher. If you go thru your insurance company they will subrogate state farm and reimburse your policy and it should not effect your rates.

insurance companies don’t pay for a replacement. They pay for the actual cash value. Example if you think your vehicle is worth a certain amount and its lower its because they search for comps within a radius of where you live for the same car.

you dont pay day by day. Did you try or did they hang up on you? if so i would change asap. They insure you when you buy a new vehicle and there is a grace period. this shouldnt be any different.

Are you claiming injury ? (hope so), Back to your question, if you are claiming injuries "stay in the house". When said adjuster comes to you house I would ask him for his card. Ask him what he needs to do and direct him to the vehicle. He shouldn't ask you anything. If he does politely remind him that he's there to do the inspection. Control yourself from asking "what do you think? Is it totaled?" Be cool as possible. Again do not answer any question. Even if he asks how you're feeling. After he leaves give your insurance company a heads up call and provide them with the other companies inspector.

And spoons make people fat and guns shoot people.:rolleyes::rolleyes: Personal responsibility. If the dipshits that make the poor decisions have to suffer the consequences instead of shirking blame, maybe other dipshits will start paying attention.

Thanks! I'll do just that. According to IL law, they're supposed to replace my vehicle because I wasn't at fault. They're supposed to pay for a vehicle in the same, or better, condition as mine, including taxes and registration. I guess if I can't find a vehicle within 30 days, they're supposed to compensate me as well. They'll have to pay for my overpriced weathertech tonneau cover, as well. I honestly hope they can fix it. I like my taco.

Its not that simple. They will do the bare minimum according to the law. They will compensate you how they see fit. Look out for them providing you 3 "legitimate" sale prices of similar vehicles. with that they will average the cost and that will be the basis for what they pay you. Have your receipts ready with the tonneau cover and any other recent maintenance items that could help you get more money out of the deal.
Ive done this before with a fault partys insurance. I never got a hold of the same representative twice so you have to start over with another person each time. The one representative told me on the phone they dont pay "retail" for a replacement vehicle even if you do have to pay retail to replace it. That was an entertaining phone call.

The real tragedy is you rarely come out even on the deal when you weren't at fault.

I would have a collsion center make the call- When I was rear ended in October my insurance company said the damage was only $5000- the collision center found the damage to be over $10,000

Yours will need a frame for sure. Toyota doesn't have frames just lying around either. it will take up to 3 months to get one. I decided to repair mine being that it wasn't as bad as yours. They run about 7500$ not including labor. Also the bed is probably jacked up as well. I'm sure a bunch of other things as well.

My 2010 single cab frame replacement cost Toyota about 12K just for the parts and labour. They did replace UCAs, brake lines, leaf springs as well but I bet that figure isn't far off what it would cost in general.

Bullshit! Why should phone companies, or any business for that matter, be responsible for idiots who make bad decisions. That's one of the biggest problems with the world today. Nobody wants to be held accountable for their own mistakes! Nobody "gets someone drunk" They make their own decision to drink.

NO! NO! NO! NEVER every open a claim with your insurance unless you are at fault or there is some reason that the person at fault may not either have insurance or enough insurance to cover the damages. That is terrible and seriously bad advice because that is filed as a claim against you. Your insurance company is not your friend and regardless of what the commercials say, they are not "on your side".

It sounds like the OP is ok with fault being blamed on the other driver and they have a reputable insurance company being State Farm. I'm guessing the OP doesn't live in a major metro area because he should be able to take to a body shop that can file the claim. The way it will work with the insurance company coming out to give him an estimate is that the adjuster will take a look and work up a low estimate of the damages and give him a check. He can take that check and keep it or he can take it to a body shop that will work off that estimate and file supplemental claims once they get it apart. The process is pretty straightforward.

That's pretty much what's going on, my friend. I do live in a metropolitan area (Southwest Chicago burbs. My town was technically a rural area up until a few years ago), but every single shop around here is seemingly very busy. I called a few of them, they all wanted to make appointments in late February or march. The adjuster just came by. I let him do his thing, and when he was done he estimated $19000 in damages, not including incidental charges for other damage found later. He said it's very close to the threshold (75%), so even though there is still a small chance they'll fix it, it's most likely a total. 3-4 days, for an answer, he said.

I guess I'll have to go hunt down all receipts for the front bumper, tonneau, fog and flood lights.
