Hey everyone. This is my 2023 Tacoma Sr. It was involved in an accident today from a guy in an 80’s Camry who spun out and his car went sideways in front of me. I was traveling at about 40 mph when we made contact. The insurance is going to inspect it this Monday and estimate repair costs. I’m so freaking bummed. Just got her to where I wanted. Only 23k miles. Doesn’t look to have any frame damage.Air bags didn’t deploy and hood is undamaged.

What do you guys think? :/

    Better Call Saul.

Guy loses control on that stretch of pavement?... wtf....

I think they will repair it - lobby for a new set of tires due to tread wear, new wheels all around too if they will go for it.

Did you say your neck hurt?.... looks like with that kind of damage you should be suffering pain and discomfort.

Tacoma's bring big $$ at the salvage auction, which is what leads to vehicles that are easily repairable being totaled. That said, I would expect your truck to be repaired.

They aren't going to replace the complete set of wheels. Where do some of you come up with this stuff? o_O

They'll repair it, guessing around 6k to 8k damage.

Key statements if it checks out.

    My non-binding vote is 'fix'.

Sounds good. We need some more sketchy moves to help raise our insurance rates.

im not saying thats right but no one comes out ahead once their time involved in handling this is factored. You may get book value for the car and a rental in the event of a total loss but thats about where it stops.

Coming out ahead is not the purpose of having insurance.

    Agreed.

Sometimes it's a difference of opinion between owner and company, as too many overvalue their stuff in their own minds.

Sometimes its the company/adjuster trying to skate the easy route. Especially if it's the other party's carrier (in my experience)

Unfortunately it too often takes hard work and doggedness to be made whole.

My best success over the years has been using a stand up body shop that also works well with adjusters.

    Good luck on your repair.

Also, I usually advise to be wary when posting about accidents. I have no doubt that insurance companies and lawyers scan internet posts for info that can be used to dispute a victim's claim. I don't think you shared any significant details, but one never knows.

Looks repairable from pictures, but hard to tell without actually putting eyes on damage assessment.

In all seriousness, get a fresh notebook and write down any feelings of pain or discomfort along with dates and times. My wife was rear-ended a few years ago. Totaled her car and injured her. The insurance company offered her something like $900, which didn’t even cover our medical costs. We wanted $5k. At $1,500 they told her to either accept it or get an attorney. We did. Her documentation went a long way toward us getting a mediated $50k settlement.

Might have to get a new set of wheels if those steely rims have been discontinued.

@yoda_toyota Where did you source those rims from? I'm looking for 17".

    @Toycoma2021
The steelies on my truck are 16’s. They are technically the spare for the 3rd gen Tacoma. I purchased the set straight from Toyota.

I believe it you want 17’s you can get the FJ cruiser steelies from Toyota as well. And they have the cutouts so you can add the center caps
