Thanks for the rim info. I've asked around at junk yards for 17" Toyota steel rims and have found none so far. Although I was asking for Tacoma Sport spare tire rims, as I am told the Sport has 17" rims for all 5 tires.

Any updates on the truck? I'm sure there are those who will enjoy it.

I got lucky and was able to get the repairs covered by the insurance. I was also lucky that the accident didn’t cause any frame damage. The person who did the body work is a family friend and he is nothing short of a magician. He said that it looked worse than it was and he’d have it back in no time.
All in all I had the 2 rims replaced and powder coated, new tire, new upper and lower control arms, new hub, new tire rod, etc., passenger side headlight, front fender replaced and color matched, bumper repair, and rear fender repair. He had to straighten out the mount where the headlight bolts on as well. Came out to around 10k in repairs.

I can’t thank my repair guy enough and I’m just relieved to have my truck back. As you know it’s more than just a mode of transportation.

I also got a cool sculpture for memories sake. And a few days after getting her back I built a drawer.

I like the abuse steel can take without breaking. An aluminum rim would have been in pieces.

I can relate to this one, for a minor accident that was undisputably the other person's fault this spring it still put me out of pocket about $900 in the short term plus all the running around. Compounding the annoyance was the other person's crummy attitude dealing with me plus not reporting it to his insurance and making me wait 30 extra days for the fix and my reimbursement, I wish I could have been paid a little on top for the inconvenience.

I'm lucky to have an auto body guy in my family here but definitely agree with this.

Wise advice just in case. I ran into something like this in my 20s, except the person from my attorney's office tried to get me to take the $3000 offer which meant $1000 in his pocket (he himself did almost no work on the case so it was fast money for him) but meant I'd be in the hole for medical bills. Fired that attorney and got another one who got me $13k before his piece and the rest of the bills.

You should be good, usually when the airbags deploy that takes it to another level with considering if it's a total.

That turned out really nice! Good body shops and painters are extremely difficult to find.
