Wrecked into a Chevy Malibu and there is major damage in the front, the skit plate has bent in half and the alignment is completely off, it was transported with a forklift and it wasn’t even supported on the frame it was on the shocks and front control arms. No airbags deployed but the doors won’t open half way since everything was moved back.

I've seen some pretty bad wrecks that were not totaled. If it's not GET THAT DEPRCIATION CHECK. SHOULD BE AT LEAST $8-10k

I'm leaning towards not totaled since none of the airbags deployed, even the radiator support seems to be untouched. I'm no expert though.

If I am not mistaken these frames are designed to crumple in, hence why your fenders and doors have damage. What that will cost to get straightened is a gamble, could be $500 or could be quite a bit more, depends on the damage and I get a wrecked vehicle from auctions every once in awhile and it is a total gamble looking at pictures to determine how much damage there actually is. I just got an Acura that looked great in the pictures and I already to have a couple grand in parts and frame work and its still far from done.

Also its pretty standard for them to move vehicles with fork lifts/skid-steers, typically they do not even let you into the yard to grab the vehicle.

Doesn't look any where near totaled to me. Why TF would they transport it by fork lift?? I see salvage yards do that on the daily but to a truck that has basically minor damage? I'd be pissed about that part. As someone mentioned above...make sure if it isn't totaled, you get your depreciated value compensation check!

    A few.
How can you get a diminished value claim if your at fault in the accident?

It looks so sad in the first pic with the headlights drooped down and the frown from the dangling chin...LOL

It does look repairable. These tacos have over a foot of space in front of the radiator to absorb impacts. Everything looks like it crumpled and buckled the way it was designed without severe damage to the cab. Hoping for the best, let us know the outcome!

Hmmm honestly not sure on that. I would think the vehicles value is still diminished regardless who’s at fault. But I also know insurance companies definitely don’t like to pay out haha

I came here to see why it was on a forklift. If you were trying to get it totaled, then the forklift plus hitting the Malibu is like getting two birds stoned at once (another Trailer Park Boys reference)

Yeah good catch. And how do you know the alignment is off if the tires are flat and they needed a forklift to move it at the tow yard. And Are you sure they weren’t using one of these ?
