Jeez! You could have gotten an 12' almost. Do you have that one year upgrade promotion they offer?! If your car is totaled they upgrade to the next model year...?

Glad it will buff out!! Yes i should of wrote "write off", gee must of been all the excitement of hitting a dodge......with a hemi. All i could think of while the hood was folding in front of me is why the air bags are not deploying, and the engine kept running. Drivers door made alot of noise opening.

Pretty sure IMPACT does not set off the air bags. It's the inertia of the deceleration that does. Like others have said, the computer makes that decision. To many airbags would be deployed by mall crawlers and their run ins with shopping carts.

    Maybe you're pregnant...you did get f'd.

All in all, good to hear you were not seriously injured. Go get checked out no matter if you cracked a tail light.

    stock, for now
did no one see the tow truck driver leaning in the drivers side to put the truck in neutral. After a hit like that, thats a no-no. Ive seen the airbags unexpectedly go off while people did that.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Yeah, I think I remember reading somewhere that it takes speeds of over 45mph for most airbags to deploy, and that the impact has to be sudden and hard for them to deploy, like a head on collision where they will definately be needed to cushion your head and chest from whipping violently forward and smashing into the steering wheel or dash components, which would hurt a lot worse!
OP be thankful you were not hurt, truck can be replaced, you cant

You are insured through ICBC no doubt- If you have the replacement value coverage you might be in for a pleasant surprise. The insurer is forced to use genuine Toyota parts for the repair if you have the replacement value package. Those parts add up in price quickly! I was rear ended (sandwiched front and rear) in my 2007 and had less damage than you- except that it was on the both ends. I had: bent frame, rear quarter panel, rear bumper, front bumper, headlights, grille, radiator, A/C condenser, and hood damaged- write off. They handed me a cheque for $41,000- the cost to drive a brand new one off the lot. Hope you are as lucky! Glad you are OK- don't disclose any medical information to the insurer until you are sure you are not going to stiffen up. You are only required to give your version of the events and are not obligated to sign anything or give them permission to access your medical records. They will try to get you to sign releases at your initial visit to ICBC. The less you tell them the better if you decide to involve legal advice later.

looks pretty torn up. insurance companies will usually fix up to 80% of retail value. the big parts rack up a bill pretty fast but all those small parts contribute a good bit to a repair estimate too. and make sure if they do fix it that they use OEM parts. aftermarket panels have a tendency to not line up right

doesnt look totaled i worked as an body shop manager for a few years. i have seen vehicles that have been rolled not be totaled out. damage must exceed 80% of the book value to even be considered a total loss. airbag sensors are on the frame rails crumple zone about 10 inches behind bumper, if they are not hit airbags will not deploy. every vehicle has them in different places, trucks typically mount sensors farther inboard so they dont deploy as easy. glad u r ok

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Your wreck looks similar to one I just had in my 07 Camry (all front end damage), they totalled mine. The differences are that your air bags never deployed (which is very costly to repair) and the value of the Tacoma is more than a Camry. Right off hand I'll say no, not totalled, but once they get under the hood, radiator could be gone, frame could be bent, suspension could have taken a hit.
