as i was driving to work today i just had the nuetral fan air on and the smell arose once again, so i think i should cross off a heater core. i did notice some oil seeping out of the valve cover, maybe its dripping on the headers and burning off??

sounds like a few things need attention :(

The loose valve covers may seem like no big deal but over time the gaskets warp and no longer seat to seal, I had mine fully replaced and had to over a few months go back and retighten as they break in.

it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a full maintenance weekend on the truck if you have the time and money, the supercharger i'm sure is contributing to early wear on parts too.

you can tighten but there is no need to go HULK on it, get the bolts to where they feel tight enough.

But again they have a tendency to wear out over time, gaskets are cheap and its not too terrible of a project to tackle

i would attempt it im just worried about moving around the supercharger to get to the cover itself, what do u think a dealer would charge?

The dealer would gladly charge you to do anything to your truck from tightening bolts to replacing gaskets.. a lot

Its not a difficult job but you should try to tighten and clean up the mess first and if it still leaks then its time to replace the seals.

While you're in there do your plugs and wires.

I think if anything you would just strip the hole or round the bolt, the covers are tough, again just go tight enough to feel like its sealed.. no need to go nuts on it as its a gasket into and not a tight fit to begin with.

alright guys, bumping this thread again, i changed the belt, didnt change anything with the smell, i wish i could pinpoint the smell alittle better, is it somewhat normal when the truck is warming up with the heater on that there is somewhat of a smell? like when u first turn on ur ac u kind of get a weird smell?
