In Mass, unless you add the mods to the insurance policy, you get nada! Even when you do add them to the policy, you get mostly nada because you can't benefit from an insurance claim.... Meaning you can't get anything better than what you had. I guess this is to prevent abuse, but it really ends up screwing the consumer. If the accident isn't your fault, you still lose... Massachusetts insurance really sucks.

Took roughly 2 weeks for our insurance company to find who was at fault when a lady hit my wife and i in her car. It was private property (grocery store parking lot) so no official citation or at fault could be documented. Both parties had the same insurance company which made it more fun. At the end of the day, the other party was found at fault by insurance and we got the car fixed.

Even though you've made a claim, they can still transfer it over to the other parties if she's found at fault and you'll save your $500.

Glad to hear no one was hurt and the truck will survive to live another day.

    That ain't totaled.

Different insurance companies have different company policies and unless you requested extra coverage most insurance companies do not replace aftermarket equipment. An exception to this can happen if you can prove your aftermarket stuff is cheaper than factory parts but then you're basically accepting less coverage to get what you want assuming the aftermarket stuff is cheaper. If factory is the less expensive part they will not cover your aftermarket stuff unless you paid extra for it to be covered.

That door is an easy fix.

Off road bumpers do not go through the testing that factory bumpers go through. If you thought the damage was bad this time wait until you get into a wreck with a strong AF aftermarket bumper - frame damage time.

Although the door is an easy fix, like the guy wrote earlier most body shops will replace the door instead.

What is the name of your insurance company? I did insurance replacement for decades.

When my wife's car was rear ended a few months ago my insurance company wanted to use used parts to fix it. That wasn't going to work for me. The lady said "there's nothing I can do to get you new factory parts".

Bullshit, they got me new parts, they paid my deductible for me, they sent me a "thank you for your business" card, they sent me a birthday card, and then a manager called asked me if there was anything else they could do for me. Knowing the companies policies and knowing how these crooks (most) operate is everything.

I'd guess you are over 50% at fault if not 100%, but that's not my area of expertise pertaining to insurance companies.

By the way for anyone reading this, if an insurance company tells you your vehicle is totalled you can argue that point with them if you can prove your truck was worth more than blue book value. In my area with a Tacoma that is fairly easy to do.

They tried to total a Camaro I had. I proved it was worth more than BB value and they didn't total it, they fixed it.

I took care of that real good on the next wreck, lol.

$3200, you sure. That seems real cheap. I mean shit, you cant get a new bumper and paint for less then $1k now a days.

Youre not going to get a deal like that through an insurance company. They have to warranty their repairs.

I never let them repair anything, they estimate it and then cut me a check. You have that option. On my wife's car I mentioned above, I got new factory parts and with some creative thinking I profited from that wreck over $1,000 and still got the car repaired on a $2,300 claim. Knowledge and standing firm are key with most insurance companies, but some just don't give a rats ass about your thoughts and feelings when they're faced with shelling out money.

I got a second estimate because the first one left some things out and I just wasn’t satisfied. Now I’m quoted for the whole truck being repainted, pretty much everything that’s damaged replaced, and some things that weren’t even from this accident. I would feel bad about that if insurance companies didn’t steal from people every day. Second estimate was $5,700 - the $500 deductible. That I am more satisfied with because pretty much everything is included in that and if it was much more the truck would be totalled. I Definitely want to get an aftermarket bumper and possibly some other upgrades. My insurance is State Farm and they’ve been pretty good since I’ve been with them.

Sorry to say,but she had the right away regardless of how fast she was going, you were pulling out of a parking space, not her.I think your insurance company will fix your truck IF there is no frame damage.

The airbags did not go off and yes, normally that would be considered my fault. However, I was there before she was, she hit me. Also, the speeding could be considered reckless driving. The claims lady at state farm said more than likely it will be partial, meaning both parties at fault. But only time will tell.

State Farm took care of me when my truck was totaled.

Different type of accident, of course. Nonetheless, I paid $24,700 for the truck new and they paid me $29,980 4 years and 58k miles later for it, and that was the number they gave to me. I didn’t push for anything, whatsoever.

Did you have mods or upgrades? If so did they cover it? Mines not totalled but I’m just curious

They paid me for my aftermarket parts, they weren’t added to my policy or on a separate policy. They didn’t require any pictures of the items on my truck or anything like that.

They gave me a valuation of what they were based on age and retail cost, and if the only thing I needed to do if I believed that number was wrong was to produce an invoice showing what I paid and what date they were purchased as I was going largely off of memory. I had an invoice for my lift that I submitted, but I didn’t have to negotiate anything with my parts.

It was an excellent experience and they’ve earned my continued business because of it. I had a check within 2 weeks of my accident and it was almost an enjoyable experience.

My truck wasn’t valued by KBB or Nada or any of those, it was based off of the advertised price to purchase the same truck with similar mileage in my state (CA) from any dealer. They take 3 trucks and average those prices to formulate what my truck was worth.

Without my mods taken into account, my 4 year, 58k mile truck only depreciated $300 from the price I paid for it new to what the same truck is sold for at that time. My mods made up the other $5k+ in payout.

My repair estimate was just shy of $20k.

That’s crazy. State Farm has been nothing but great to me and my family. This might sound insane but it almost feels like they care about us and our money!
