    It absolutely uses the brakes. The brake lights come on everytime it adjusts your speed.

    The brake light might come on but it's down shifting and engine braking.

    Maybe for a few MPH but it absolutely uses the brakes, especially if someone switches lanes on you or the speed difference is too great. That seems to be expected though...?

    Yeah for sure. I haven't had the sudden deceleration that would need brakes. I have gone from 75 down to 30ish though but over a minute or so of slow down. It downshifted multiple gears and never felt like brakes were applied. I do hate that how once the lane clears, if you're going say 35 and its set for 75 it'll full throttle it outta there to full speed but if its a gradual speed increase it'll accelerate normally.

    My friends 02 Infiniti QX4 has adaptive cruise control. It's been around a lot longer than I realized.

    I'm totally new to it. BUT... I have a long straight heavy traffic HWY drive to work. I've used it every day and I'm loving it.

    Love the adaptive cruise. If course on a long road trip while day dreaming sometimes I notice I am only going 60 as the truck is pacing a semi in front of me. My old truck had regular cruise so I automatically changed lanes to pass. In terms of accident avoidance not working. I have had mine beep only once. Believe me by the time it wants to take over you already need to clean your drawers. I can see that as you don’t want it going off all the time. It is a last resort safety measure

    No.

    Toyota is clearly screwing him over just for the fun of it. It's obviously what they do.

    Have a year of TSS experience in my 17 Corolla. It really was the deciding factor on my 18 OR AC. Had the brake warning happen once. Guy in front of me on the highway didn't have a lick of brake lights. Don't know if he was trying to get rear ended or not. It noticed his rapid deceleration before i did. Not something i would ever want to intentionally test.

    I got a sensor error in the rain yesterday. I was using cruise, and noticed the car in front of me was getting closer then the truck normally allows. The dash was showing the light for collision detection being disabled. If it happens again, i will bring it into the dealer.

    my adaptive cruise control is pretty sweet. I haven’t had pedestrian detector fire on mine but I have had the PCS warnings once when I wasn’t braking enough for a lead vehicle exiting my lane. I think the system isnt perfect but it should be better than nothing at all.

    I understand you’re trying to “testing” the system but I highly advise doing the Lt. Dangle and put up a cardboard box with some aluminum foil to trigger the radars instead of using your car.

    I also have a pro grill btw.

    @Spillproof

    From what I understand, the system will disable in bad weather were the sensor cannot correctly detect cars. I think the manual says something about it automatically doing that.

    It didn't happen in a year of driving the corolla, which is my concern. First time driving in the rain in the tacoma, and it happened. Maybe I should get the dealer give me a new truck? /s
