The badging on the door should be black instead of chrome on a Pro.

    It's a good looking truck.

You still have a great looking, and capable Tacoma.

I don't think you got ripped off.

I wonder if the insurance premium is more on a pro.

This is one of the quickest ways for me to tell. Not too many people swap out the badges or headlights on a clone.

For me, the 1st clue was the shocks. The pro shocks are sexy! Nobody in their right mind would take off 55K mile pro shocks and put on OEM sport shocks.

If I am not mistaken, only TRD Off Road Tacoma's are equipped with the locker and ATRAC with the larger brake booster. His is a TRD Pro. I think it is mostly cosmetics and shocks.

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the TRD sport. That's my bad. TRD Sport is mostly cosmetic.

And thank you all so much for the tons of info!! Was great to get this much feedback on my first post.

so yes I understand my truck is not a pro.
That being said, I didn’t think it was when I purchased it since it was a certified Toyota purchased from the dealer that originally sold it and they were not marketing it as a pro.

Just made me start second guessing it when the VIN came back from 2 different sources as a pro.

In the end I’m happy with this super clean truck and is a major upgrade from the 2001 tacoma I was driving.

    Thanks again all!

no matter, great truck and seems like a great price. I would be interested in the insurance rates for a pro vs sport. I just hit 100k on my 2015 off road. I bought a plow for it, so ill be sticking with it for a few more years at least.

If it was sold to you as a Pro I'd only be mad if I intended to use the locker and ATRAC systems. If you're not an off roader, then enjoy.

    This.

When I was looking for my TRDOR, a dealership told me they could put an aftermarket locker on an SR5 and the TRD Off Road stickers on the bed sides for me. Nah. I guess they assumed my research didn't tell me about the brake booster and ATRAC.

    Like, so many.
You did good, OP. That's a good looking truck. Personally, I'd pull off the Pro badging, but that's up to you.
