Got my Tacoma used and it seemed stock except for a light bar, but it also has a power cord in the engine compartment, with the female end of the plug zip-tied to the grill so I could plug something into the front of the vehicle if I wanted to.

I decided to look it up in the manual today to see if it was stock, and the manual didn't mention anything about a front one, only the one in the bed. It looks like it was installed well, with protective insulation running around most of it.

I wonder if this is an add-on for an engine block heater or something.

Anyone know or have a Tacoma with this?

Yeah that's not stock and seems like a very reliable fire hazard.....

Power cord hanging in the engine compartment? Like the kind that are used on computers?

I believe a block heater would have a male plug.

My first thought as well, but the heater should have the male end hanging out. Unless he typed it backwards.

Start the truck up and see if theres voltage at the plug, any extra switches in cab or in the engine bay other then for the light bar.

Maybe they tied it into the AC power inverter to run a drop light for working on the engine?

This reminds me of that episode of the office where Jim put that extra wire on dwights computer and he followed it all through the office and up the telephone pole.

    Thanks, all.

It's a female end with a cap on it, sticking out of the driver's side and it looks like it goes into the firewall.
