Is putting a layer of translucent, matte vinyl over my front emblem dangerous for TSS?

So I don't really like the front chrome Toyota emblem, and while I may have preferred a Pro grille I didn't want to screw up the front camera angle for the overhead view just for the sake of appearance. Putting this matte vinyl over it seemed like the next best thing until I could figure out how to properly set the camera after installation on a Pro grille (if anyone has an idea about that too, I'd appreciate it).

However, elsewhere some folks were saying it would screw up the TSS, and while I don't get any error codes post- application, I also don't really know if it's working properly. Honestly, I'm still figuring out the truck because there are a shitload of options and functions, and I bought it with 10k miles used from a Kia dealer who didn't know anything about it. So maybe the times I've tried to put on the adaptive cruise control I haven't given it enough space to see if it's actually adjusting my distance (assuming that is tied in with the sensor anyway...)? If the TSS were obstructed by the vinyl, would the computer let me know? Thanks

It will let you know. But it shouldn't be an issue unless it's thick calendered vinyl.

Just use a nice thin cast avery sw900 series. You should be fine.

    But I've never tried it.

I've had a vinyl decal over mine for a year. Zero issues.

It should be fine. I bought an aftermarket grill and the radar sensor is pretty thick plastic, and it still works fine. I dont think a translucent layer of vinyl will hurt it a all. If it does, take it off.

Floor mats count? It’s a work in progress.....
4A9D6D6E-A294-4454-8714-0C200680F065.jpg I just put light smoke Vivid headlight tint vinyl over mine today. It’s a pretty subtle change and so far no issues at all

Put vinyl on mine over 2 months ago. No problems at all.

Yeah Vivid was the same brand I used, got a little kit from Amazon for pretty cheap although mine is the matte version (as shown in my first post). You're right that it is fairly subtle, but I think it looks nice toning down the chrome a little bit. Have also considered painting the grille itself a sort of satin black, but I'm pretty happy with how it looks now.

That's a very cool effect, how did you apply the TEQ decal? Is it all one piece, or did you do it in sort of layers?

All one piece vinyl that I got from Kevin @kcm808. IG handle is c_mento_taco_808. He does all kinds of custom images too. He's in Hawaii so shipping can be delayed more than usual.
