if you dont have a reason to root, then dont do it. i have plenty of friends who tried rooting their phones, because they thought it was "cool", and ended up bricking their phones.

Droid-life.com is the best Droid resource i have found. They cover all the latest Roms and custom themes. They also provide walkthrough videos and step by step instructions for rooting and other mods.

Really no reason not to root unless you can't follow very simple instructions. The free tethering alone would cost you $20 each month.

I have rooted about five different phones for friends. There is even an app that now roots your phone with one touch. It is pretty difficult to mess that up.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
x2. most sites get their info from xda-developers. xda has been around since hacking the old winmo phones was popular. Lots of software developers there. I've been on that site for about 6 years now.

btw androidcentral.com is a good site for newcomers to the android world and they cover android news pretty dang well too.

sure rooting is...but what happens when you accidentally update your radio twice and brick it? if all you wanna do is tether for free, then yeah its easy, but if you wanna go deeper it gets more dangerous.
