    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    Even after owning a 2007 ranger as a previous truck, my taco feels like a rocket ship. That bad boy made 207 hp at 5k and 236 tq at 3200 RPMs. 4.0 litres of fury!

    The 4.0 is actually not too bad considering it had no VVT, but Ford honestly geared them pretty poorly. Naturally, being a 5 speed doesn’t help due to the wider spread, but the axle gearing combined with the 5 speed they used definitely made it worse. The 3.0 was even worse lol.

    In somewhat related ways to what you said, my Tacoma feels slow because of what I used to have, unfortunately. My Nissan Frontier was way more fun to drive power wise. It’s not that I think the Tacoma needs to have a fast 0-60 or that it doesn’t get the job done, because it definitely does…but the Frontier had way more balls and was just more fun. That said, I like the Tacoma truck qualities better, so pros and cons. I’ve put more miles on the Tacoma than 2 frontiers combined, so that should speak for something, although I don’t find the drive to be very special. Decent enough though.

    For what it’s worth, I would probably think my Tacoma was fast if I came from my 3.0 Ranger. I definitely thought my frontier was a rocket when I got it compared to the Ranger. But then that made the Tacoma not feel as good lol.

    One of my girlfriends had a 4 cylinder Ranger, we called it the lawnmower truck because it ran like one. Lol!

    That bus was owned by a Porsche mechanic, large bore with dual carbs, it fast for a bus. Surprised a few Mustangs and Camaros off the line. :D

    I think I had 4.10 gears in my ranger. Low end was decent but it ran out of breath at like 4700k RPMs. It sucked on highway’s especially through mountain passes. My taco eats them up with ease. Love driving through mountain passes in my taco, so much fun. I did like 2nd gear on my ranger better though.

    Buddy had NISMO 6SPD frontier. Beast of a truck. I like frontiers and would be driving PRO4x if Tacoma didn’t offer MT. Yes the frontier definitely has better low end, those 4.0s were quite decent.

    Tacoma is the quickest vehicle that I’ve owned. I’ve had some good shitboxes, including a 1983 Datsun stanza with a 3 speed. :)

    I find the Tacoma to have plenty of power for normal everyday driving. That’s why I’m surprised to see so many people say it’s “unsafe”, “underpowered”, a “slug” etc. Just makes no sense to me.

    Would cure the “soft bottom” end most everyone complains about, plus should return 30 mpg.

    https://www.motorreviewer.com/engine.php?engine_id=126

    Gas mileage is probably my biggest complaint about the 3.5.

    But now instead of the “soft bottom end” folks will be complaining about “lack of passing power”:D

    Yes, diesels do get awesome MPGs. I still can get advertised MPGs in my modified Tacoma if I drive conservative, I do most of the time. 21.5 is best I can do on the highway if going no faster than 65:)Summer only. City is like 18 in the summer.

    Heard the new iForce in the 4G gets weezy on top, so yeah always a trade off. Pretty sure there will be threads complaining about that the more get on the road.

    Averaging a touch over 20 mpg for my work commute, goes up a little bit in summer for when I am traveling. Have been waiting decades for a 30+ mpg Tacoma, Toyota said nope!

    The amount of people in this thread trying to convince themselves that the 3.5 powertrain wasn't complete shit is mind boggling.
