Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
To be fair, I have always hated rangers..

I had a friend who had the little offroad model one. I think the last year or close to it. She brought it out one day wheeling with me and I got busted a driveshaft hammering my truck on a rock ledge, so I was wheeling the Taco I tow the play truck with.

Got it buried in a muddy creek bed.. Rode in her little ranger to get another truck (ranger didn't have the grunt to pull my Tacoma out where it was) I was very impressed with her truck. It had no rattles, was comfortable. Size was about the same as first gen Taco. And it had some balls. It had an aftermarket suspension and rode damn near as good as my Baja package.

Cant say I want one. BUT I was surprised for sure. Every other one I have been around has been less spectacular. Must have been built on a good day!

When I firsted looked at Tacomas I found everything I needed as a college student looking for a 4WD in the Ranger. Sure the Tacoma was more truck, the same way an F150 is more truck than the Tacoma. I was never debating that. With that extra 10k I paid for four semester's of school and I still had a reliable back country truck.

I agree, back when I was in school I bought old Toyota trucks. I didn't want a payment.

Not that I want a payment now but I can afford it better, and I need more truck than my old Toyota's.

A bigger vehicle doesn't really cost much more to build or purchase materials for (other than a higher quality interior), which is partly why a midsize truck has trouble competing. Most of the costs come from the labor and the engineering costs, and for a large truck or a small truck those are largely the same. Hence the thought that a full size truck is a better value because America has the mindset that larger = better and therefore the larger available profit margin on full size trucks.

I forget the name of the forum we're both members of is called "Tacoma World" a place for "Tacoma Owners & Enthusiasts"... there are going to be a few "fanboys".

10k more for a bigger, more powerful, and capable truck... I'd say Tacoma... It's such a bully right? I think you would have to compare a 1st gen Tacoma to a Ranger just to be fair.

While the GM twins are both brand new, the Toyota is a much older design. A refreshed version is expected to appear later this year.
Sweeney put the old Tacoma's sales lead down to a lack for supply of the Colorado and Canyon, expecting customers to materialize once the trucks become more widely available.
That's why GM is adding a third shift at the Wentzville, Missouri, plant that builds the Colorado. Officials expect the truck to be "sold out" soon, Sweeney said.
He claimed Chevy is seeing a 41 percent "conquest rate" of new buyers coming over from other brands--but not any significant defection of buyers.
For January 2015, sales for both trucks totaled 5,942, with the Colorado accounting for 2,205 of those.

Both the Colorado and Canyon are currently offered with two engine choices: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V-6.

A six-speed automatic transmission is available in most models, although a six-speed manual is offered in the basic four-cylinder Work Truck. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive optional.

The come with free recalls, too. Besides the airbags and other replacements that happened back in September (before they even left Wentzville), anyone care to hazard a guess what the next recall is going to be? I'm torn between window and HVAC installation.

Don't pretend yours didn't get recalled to shave down the gas pedal and your payload wasn't as much as advertised. No vehicle is without fault. Let's not act like our shit doesn't stink too. ;)

    ...and the leaf springs recall
    ...and the Airbag spring recall
...and the rusting frame recall (this one is interesting, for 20 years Toyota engineers are trying to figure out how to paint frame so it does not rust)

I'll believe it when I see a few on the streets and in the dealership lots. I'm not saying BS to what GM is saying sales wise, but trying to find these trucks that are apparently flying off the assembly line at the dealer or on the streets is a nightmare compared to finding a new "Atlas" F150 that came out a few months later. I get that the F150 will sell 10x more units, but there are 20-30 2015F150's in Lethbridge, Alberta at each of the local Ford dealerships and 1 Canyon/Colorado BETWEEN the two GM dealers in the same town and it's been there for 2 weeks.

Kinda like the Ford Transit....didn't see any at first now I am starting to see them everywhere. Too bad they don't make an AWD version...would be an excellent replacement for my VW Westy.

I am starting to see Colorados on the streets now, couple at the dealer lots. I gotta say, much better looking than the '16 Tacos. I dunno man, I have been a Toyota owner and fan for 25 years now...they are starting to loose me.

Little bit of lift, they look pretty hawt.

My insurance agent bought the first Colorado that showed up at the local dealership. It's a red Z71. The local mod shop lifted it with a spacer kit and threw some Cooper ST Maxx underneth it. With that setup the truck looks hot.

Hopefully GM gets someone like bilistien, fox, or king to release some good shocks for the truck too so people can get some performance benefits as well. Some black aftermarket wheels that can handle offroading when be a nice touch too but are hard to find due to the weird bolt pattern.

I sat in one today, and man it was nice. I liked the seats, and most of the interior. The cluster was funky, but so is the tacoma's.
Simple things like power seats, assist tailgate, etc.... If I was shopping for new, I'd be a front runner.
