Over the years I have owned full size trucks and vans by the three majors, and while Chevy/GMC do very well in the market place, I have just been terribly turned off by their dealer system. I see nothing really special about the new GM mid sized, but the spent a ton of money advertising at the super bowl. I have owned and driven full size pickups and full sized vans by Ford, Chevy and Dodge over the years...the best thing about the chevy van that if one needed a part, the local scrap yard would have a giant row of them...

Yes, the government lost money on the deal in fact as much as my organizations yearly budget but, government has washed it's hands of that deal and GM is back as they were before the bailout.

I'm waiting to see long term reliability and resale on it and how it compares to the Tacoma.

Not directed to the quote but a general comment for all, I wouldn't call the 2015 Canyon/Colorado a failure until numbers are reviewed at the end of the year.

My dads 2005 Sierra 2500HD CCSB Duramax was more reliable than my 06 tacoma DCSB 6-speed. And the Tacoma only made it to 70k miles. GM makes a good product and they are only getting better. Toyota is riding on the laurels of Toyota's of old and you could argue they are getting worse and worse nowadays.

And I'd rather have an American made Colorado over a Mexican made Tacoma, just sayin.

The fanboys are like dogshit around here, they're everywhere.

We'll a site called tacomaworld should make you think there will be fanboys..... It's not Colorado or canyon world.... I'm a fan of the tacoma but I wouldn't hesitate to get another brand truck as long as it is reliable.

Have you seen this stupid show called Scrappers? Well, I think it got cancelled but they were gonna buy a used Ford Van and one guy was like "We should buy that van because they're like dog shit, they're everywhere!" I guess he was saying they're popular so itll be easy to repair. Needless to say it was hilarious, ill try to find the clip.

I would say the launch of the Colorado was failure. Had a recall as soon as they opened the gates. I have only seen a handful on the roads and many dealerships don't even have any.
This does not mean the Colorado itself is a failure however. Calling it a failure two months in is a little hasty. I know a ton of people are holing out for the Duramax. But they may change their minds when they realize they are paying $43,000 for a truck that can tow less than a 5.3 Silverado but requires more expensive fuel.
At any rate, the jury is still out. Personally, mostof my experiences with domestic automakers were awful. My Tacoma has been my first reliable car ever.
I know things change and domestics have improved overall, but getting left on the side of the road leaves a REAL bad taste in your mouth that doesn't go away for a loooong time.

You cant really compare a duramax to a tacoma. Just saying. And yes duramax and allison's last a long f-ing time. But given other GM vehicles, previous generation colorado, cobalt, etc. I'll stick to Toyota for now even if its not the Toyota of past.

I wonder if the latest series of "complete transmission failures" in a few of the "twins" will affect their sales numbers??;)

I have a Les Paul that I've owned for over 20 years without a problem. Gibson is way better than Tacoma.

Everyone is talking about the GM twins going for over sticker price. If you are part of a credit union, GM gives you a set price which is a nice discount under sticker. For me, a z71 ccsb with the Bose speakers would be just over $33k.
