All good, I wasn't actually trying to insult you. I was trying to point out that everyone, a member of this forum or not, has there own opinions flavoured heavily by their experiences. My wife, for example, swore she'd never buy a truck and then when she tried the Colorado swore she'd never buy a full size truck because of some of her own experiences. Yet yesterday she test drove an F150 and we pulled the trigger.

I didn't mean to berate you. Sometimes on here I like to over explain my point to get around the types that like to poke at general statements. If I offended you that wasn't my objective.

We will, right after you realize you need a half ton and leave this place :D. Now I remember why I rarely come in the 3rd gen forum anymore. Nothing but air in here.

A double cab SR5 Tundra 4wd with the 5.7L is cheaper than any Canyon/Colorado I've seen on sale locally.

Tundra gets 13 mpg IRL on a good day. They don't sell as well as Toyota likes to talk about. I can't understand why that engine still exists. The Ford I just bought has similar power numbers with 20-30% better fuel economy.

Don't know why Toyota can't seem to get it together with mileage on their trucks? Seem more interested in cars at this point. Truck line up is an after thought it seems.

Well, I can't speak for the tundra but the Tacoma isn't horrible. I get about 22 in the summer. The Chevy twins aren't doing much better with a brand new design and smaller motor compared to an engine that was designed 10 years ago by toyota.

Simply put, it's hard to design a work horse motor that gets both great mileage and useful torque and power.

My buddy's 5.0 F150 gets a solid 20 hwy, while have a few friends with the Tundra...they can't get any more than 14 out of it.

I can't get any better than 17-18 out of my Tacoma, run 91 octane, and I drive like an old man.

Heard the same thing from my buddies running 5.0 F150s if they were every bit as reliable as a Taco, I would likely own one.

Well I finally got to drive a Canyon yesterday. I was leaning toward it over the new (ugly) Tacoma, but wasn't that impressed. It actually felt slower than my old 2WD OR Taco. The handling was better, I guess, but it felt a bit dull. It also felt big overall.

Also, the GMC dealers around here (NorCal) are garbage. I have been to three, and each one has been trashy and sad, with salespeople whose tactics were comically bad. If GM wants to compete with Toyota in the higher-education market, they need to do something to revamp their network.

I keep on waffling back forth between a 1/2 ton and another Tacoma, main reason I want to stick with the Tacoma is the manual trans, not sure if that is enough.

Kinda hard not to look at the F150, more power, better capacity, the same if not better mpg.

Have a client with the EcoBoost, he is only getting 15. Said it is fun to drive, but sucks down the petrol.

We were talking about it at work. I mean midsize is a perfect size for me, but they are in my opinion and others extremely overpriced when you can get a full size with more options/similarly equipped with similar gas mileage and more capabilities minus size after incentives/rebates for the same price. I've said this before my buddies new Silverados after truck month with (LT Z71 4WDs) cost the same as my Taco.

I sure do like the size of the Tacos to a point, great for general running around and light trail work. I do run out of room real quick on dirt bike trips. Don't do any super tight trail work with the Taco since I ride dirt bikes, a truck can't touch where a bike can go.

I tend to like extra cabs with a 6' bed, 1/2 ton full size would be better for hauling dirt bikes, and the rear seats would actually be useful, according to my fuzzy math, they have nearly the same rear seat leg room as my mid-sized SUV. A DCLB Taco would work, but if I am going to give up my manual trans, might as well get a fullsize.

Do I actually "need" a fullsize? Not really...for nearly the same price as a Taco you can get one, so real hard not to consider it.

The Taco 4 Banger B-Max or SR package will get me into the 20 mpg range, and a little cheaper than a 1/2 Ton. Cheapest 2015 F150 Super Cab 6.5' bed F150 XL 4WD, I can find is $34K.

Even though I would save $8-10K, don't want to deal with that anemic 4 banger though.

What about a 14 Ford, the 15's had a big price jump due to the redesign/aluminum body. You could get a nice 15 Ram too pretty cheap, silver ado etc.

Those would work. Ford is blowing out the 14's right now. Seems like it ds all the blinged out versions. I just want the base contractor model since I am just going to beat on it. I like the Silverado too. Rams are at the bottom of the list, though have another riding buddy that loves his.

Rams are supposed to get fairly decent mileage too. Payload is the lowest of the 1/2's though

picked up my Tacoma a couple days ago...and couldn't be happier. Feels much more like a truck than the Colorado. Sits higher, the seats are higher off the floorboard, handles like a truck. I don't want a truck that drives like a Jetta, I wanted a truck! Theres also a lot more interior room.

Colorado has great features, but a 4 month wait and a price tag 5k higher made my choice easy.
