Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
How dare a mod does that. :)

And I don't think it will be allowed to fail.. Just like the last Colorado it will keep selling in limited numbers even if it terrible and GM will keep selling it even if they lose money selling it because they HOPE that someday they can get in to the market again. They would love to have the market share they had before they burned it to the ground. Not that the S10 was ever good.

Going from zero to slightly more half of Toyota's numbers in a few months? I'd consider that a pretty darn successful start. Not sure I understand what the article is on about. Come back in two years and see how things are doing then.

I looked at a colorado... but I already own a tacoma.. honestly I think a lot of people in the midsize truck market just want something new... we have 2 trucks that have been unchanged since 07 and 05... I believe that is the only reason why it is selling so well.

It will do fine. Fleet sales, for starters - I can't load 500 pounds of anything into my Taco without riding on the stops all the way home. Not OK. The old Colorado had decent springs and so far the two or three I've seen here have them as well. Plus GM is an American company, and that works in their favor with quite a few customers...including state and federal government.

I love my Taco in most respects (getting ready for new wheels, awww yeah!) but if I woke up tomorrow with a new Colorado in my driveway I think I'd be fine with that. If it were diesel I'd be even happier.

500 lbs? I had almost 2000 lbs (by accident) and never hit the bump stops.

Those new colorados are pretty sick though. I checked em out and liked them quite a bit but they seem designed for a different market than the tacoma

Right now - some of the trucks are experiencing transmission problems, especially the 4WD versions. Several of the new buyers are complaining of water leaking into the cab from unsealed points unknown. A/C control problems abound, and this morning I read that one new buyer had his heater core blow-out and dispense coolant inside the cab. This and complaints about steering columns that are not centered and pointing towards the drivers door....

Nothing to offer, EXCEPT a diesel engine. I would say this is huge to offer over the Nissan and Toyota. To bad they blew it and did the release with out the diesel being available until later this year.

We will see how the numbers look once the diesel becomes available. I am doubtful it will be enough. I am sure they wanted to work out the all the issues of the new truck first with out adding in issues of a new small diesel.

Let's face it....people have had shit go wrong on the Tacoma too. Sometimes right off the dealer lots. If you think I'm lying go look at the second gen section (1st gens get off easy because I don't think this forum was around then). On average problems like you described don't seem to be widespread.

Tranny problems in the colorado? Yep, remember when we ALL had to get our transmissions reflashed?
Leaky cab seals? How many Taco owners complain of wind noise due to seals on their trucks?
And let's not even talk about the rear leaf TSB and how Toyota replaced the pre-runners shocks with the Bilsteins to cover up the issue. And I do recall (no pun intended) that we had a recall to shave down the gas pedal did we not?

Long way to say....quit the mud slinging. Y'all sound like politicians. We have shit too and it stinks just as badly.

Fact is Toyota has fewer problems than gm.

Congrats, you've posted a chart lumping every single vehicle made by a manufacturer into a single category with no citation on when the study was performed. What was the point of that again? Oh yeah, to prove that Corollas built ten years ago are more reliable than a Chevy pickup truck....

Again, claiming the new Colorado will be shit for reliability in comparison to the new Tacoma (come fall of this year) is pure speculation. I'll agree that AS A BRAND Toyota is, on average, more reliable. But to compare two things (one of which doesn't even exist yet) is just asinine.

When did I claim it was pure shit. It's pretty safe to say that if you take the history reliability of a company that it will most likely hold true to its current products. What data are you using saying it's going to be a reliable truck.

Another words, given Toyotas history of reliability the new Tacoma will most likely have fewer problems than the new gm twins.

I'm sorry but I call BS on this. NO WAY the stock toyota springs can carry 2000 lbs w/o hitting the stops.

As for the GM, like some others said it's way too early to give it any realistic long term claims. Brand new for Brand New I think it competes really well against the Tacoma. The only negatives I've read so far are about the acceleration. I haven't sat in one yet so I can't say how it feels, but I know for my 09 tacoma my seats sucked until I added padded Clazzio leather covers so it wouldn't be too tough to improve on the Tacoma's comfort.

I had an 1.5 aal, but that only increased load by 200 lbs. I call bs on hitting bump stops at 500 lbs.

    I would normally agree.. BUT

Yes many of the OR trucks would hit bumps @ 500 lbs on small bumps.. My 2012 double cab OR was a pussy and literally hit the bumps at Walmart grocery shopping.

My 2013 was not as bad, then I added a leaf, broke a leaf and added a different brand leaf. It works great and I have hauled well over 1000 lbs many times without hitting bumps.

It is like the springs on my 2012 were a different run, even with the same number of leaves they were the softest POS springs I have ever had in anything. Including my Dad's plow truck that broke 2 leaves on the passenger side and ripped a hole in the gas tank half way up. It was more useful with the broken pack for the 6 months of driving it around minus 2 leaves.

The truck I had an 1.5 aal was on a 2011 offroad. When I went to get a load of dirt I was going to run 2 loads, because I didn't want to overload the bed with a ton of dirt. Before I could say anything, the guy dumped the whole load in the bed. I checked before I left and when I got home and it wast sitting on the bump stops. It may have bounced off the bump stops while driving, I didn't notice, but it didn't sit on them.

I don't know if the 2011 i had were different springs than others like your were saying. I know that that particular truck definitely would not have been sitting on bump stops at 500lbs on stock springs.

From my understanding, practically all new gens will have problems out the gate. GM's trucks have em and so will the next gen Tacomas. This discussion is far better weighted a few years from now when we have more consumer feedback and data to support claims of one vehicle being superior quality to the other. But I really do hope that other people will continue to buy the next gens so that I can get some feedback. Eventually the major issues/recalls and other trivial matters should get buffed out. In 4 years, I'm curious to see where GM and Yota will be with their midsized trucks
