I love it when people post about "ping" and octane.... um....one has nothing to really do with the other if the cpu is doing it's job. Never ever have I had a car that was NOT supposed to have high octane like my piece of crap MB C class that struggled with 87 edit, sorry even it did fine... LOL

I need a truck not a poser. High reving minivan engine does not belong in the truck. And that's what 3.5 is. If you like it go for it.
I am very unlikely to buy Colorado.
Most likely Titan XD is in my future. Cummins engine paired with HD Toyota Aisin transmission in rust proofed Nissan body. Resale value on that thing will be insane.
In person XD looks awesome fit and finish is way better than Tundra and from the look through window, 2016 Tacoma.
12000 lb of towing capacity is nice perk.
    Can't wait for test drive.

Yes, because the resale on Titans has been so awesome in the past. It'll be exactly like a Dodge Ram with the Cummins. Great motor with a craptacular truck built around it.

I'm betting the XD will be an even bigger turd than the first gen Titan.

BTW, I still love the term real truck. So does my 17 ton float truck make an XD a compact car? A truck is a truck if you can work it. I work both my Tacoma and Ram, both are good trucks for different reasons.

I sure hope Nissan fixed everything that they did wrong on the previous model, the titan is rated as one of the worst vehicles for reliability. I like the idea f the powertrain in the xd but outside of that I'm not sold on Nissan quality. As for the taco 3.5, seems like manufactures are gearing more towards a refined car engine for truck duty. Fact is more people buy trucks to drive to the grocery store and haul there kids around then actually for work. Bad news for the true truck guy but its the way the market has gone and manufacturers are going to cater to the higher percentages wants/needs.

Even current Titan has better resale than Ford ecoboost. :D
I never had any problems with Nissan so I can't complain. They also held much better than Toyota against rust.
What I never liked about Nissan cars was insane amount of electronic gizmos which I have no use for. Otherwise my Nissans held as good as my Yotas.

Good thing I didn't buy an Ecoboost ;).

All of the big three have low resale because of their cheap off the lot cost and the fact that a ton of them come off lease every year. Supply and demand. Toyota restrains supply which raises there trucks prices and they sell tgere trucks for close to MSRP.

At least you are buying a full sized truck that will actually fit your needs. I wouldn't trust the new Titan given Nissans last run with it. That last Titan was a bloody mess, you couldn't turn left with a differential issue.

    Tin foil hat ?

I would not crap on Titan for exploding differentials,,, not like there is not a million threads of exploding Tacoma differentials on the way to the store.

I am buying fullsize because Toyota is doing exactly what Nissan did to previous model of Titan..... Stick a car level part into the truck (way to small differential in Titan vs way to small engine in 2016)
I have no need for fullsize, but will end up with one.
So given the choices on current market my money at this point are on Titan XD.
Good drivetrain, good transmission in rust resistant frame that supposed to end up in Dodge
Combined with very rus resistant Nissan body.
Unless that Cummins turns out to be a massive clusterfk. That truck is a perfect combination. You get Cummins engine, with Toyota Aisin Heavy Duty transmission, with the rest of drive train from RAM 2500. on the good frame.
    And
Body, quality and warranty of Nissan which is on par with Toyota.
Beats buying Ford diesel, Dodge Diesel or Chevy Diesel, anytime anyday.

I don't know if I'd call Nissan a high quality company. I had a Juke and it was a shit box.

Is the Titan getting the same Cummins as the Ram, I thought it was smaller... the Titan used the diffs from the Frontier, that was the problem there. Those weren't car parts, just the wrong parts.

Anyways good luck with your new truck ;). Im not here to mess with you and like I said your needs were matching up with a full sized truck so I'm glad you're going that direction.

If a quick look at one 2015 Colorado forum is any indication, topics like, " shakes when idling" "stalls frequently" etc....seem to indicate this baby has a limited shelf life.

Really, that doesn't sound near as bad as

    1. "rusting frame"
    2. "shitty, loose, sloppy, front suspension"
    3. "fuel economy worse than full size"
    4. "200 lbs. in back makes truck sag".....

Have you quick look at Tacoma 2gen forum?
On two first pages, you have.
At least 7 threads with pictures of frames having rusted holes the size of cantaloupe.
Like 4 driveline vibrations threads, one with 200k views and 2000 posts.
3 threads about engine problems including one about grind vibration
    One crank and stall
    Etc etc.

I like my truck, but I tend to not criticize something that I am having too.
It's as bad as guy trying to clean his salvage title.

Settle down boy Blue. The fact is that the Tacoma is known for reliability. Are there issues? You bet! There aren't many vehicles out there without the odd known issue.

The problem is the Colorado hasn't been out a year and yet there have been plenty of teething issues. That's not exactly encouraging. I wouldn't count on the Colorado the same way as a Tacoma because it hasn't proven itself over time the same way. Maybe GM will get everything figured out, only time will tell.

And neither has your future Titan XD :).

The Cummins in the new Titan will be 5 liter V8. There's also a rumor floating around in some of the automotive mags that the Tundra will also get that engine. I guess time will tell.

I thought so. Toyota did put a few Cummins Tundys on the road to test them a few years back, so I have no doubt Toyota could go that direction if they choose. I thought they would of since there current larger displacement V8 is about 5 years behind everyone elses technology.
