I can't believe 3 pages of conversation have gone by about this chart and no one has brought up the fact that the Nissan Frontier is halfway down the list of the worst trucks. When has anyone here EVER seen a Nissan Frontier work truck?? I think the most I've ever seen in the back of a Frontier was a gas can and some window cleaning gear(and I can only be that specific because I helped someone from craigslist put something in the back of his truck 2 weeks ago and that's what was in it). The Nissan Titan is way down the bottom of that list and I've only ever seen about two Titan work trucks. I don't see a ton of Tundra work truck around, but I do see a handful of them, and I see a ton of F150 family trucks parked in suburban driveways, so even though there may be more F150 work trucks out there, there's a lot more F150's used as commuter/family cars too. I'm not picking on any of the trucks, but if you're gonna say that's why the chart is biased, you need to explain those those Nissans are lumped in with a bunch of Ford and Chevy HD trucks.

The funny thing about that commercial is they are putting it up against a civic. Apparently that's their target audience. Lol

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
This. I don't think the info is skewed that much from real life use age.

The colorado is not a failed experiment yet. I will give it some time considering I have only seen one in the few months it has been out. I would give it a few years to see how it does. For all we know it could be a good truck.

The only commercial I've seen is the one where the slick looking guy with the dark hair comes out of an office, gets in his truck and drives out of a city(where there is for some reason NO other cars in what should be a dense metropolitan area) with a smirk on his face. I've seen it a few times and have NO clue what's going on in the commercial. The problem is you don't see the truck until that last 3 seconds of the commercial, and if I don't know it's about a truck, I've already zoned out. You've gotta start the commercial with a truck so I know I'm supposed to pay attention...

As far as putting it up against a civic... I don't remember seeing any civics in this commercial, so I assume we're talking about different commercials(youtube is blocked on my work computer so I can't see the link you posted until I get home),

EDIT: ok, I got it to work on my phone, it's the same commercial I saw. As previously mentioned, I never even realized the point of the commercial because by the time I noticed it was a truck commercial, I had already missed what else was going on. Really doesn't say much for the marketing if your general audience has no clue it's a commercial they should be paying attention to.

Yes, when it comes to reliability the Ridgeline is better than the Tacoma. At least according to that graph you supplied.

I never owned a Ridgeline so in that respect have to personal observation to give, but with my Tacoma I've had significant problems with it but none that left me stranded (blower motor, windshield humming, rusting read bumper to name a few)

Just watched the fast lane truck review thing were they take it "offroad" were the guy keeps praising the suspension and how good the truck is "offraod" when all he is doing is driving on a gravel road. He says that is perfectly steady at 45 mph, well my stock first gen is fine on a gravel road too, going faster than that, and its 18 years old!. Its a joke.

How is it safe to say it is already a failed experiment? As has already been pointed out, limited supply is hampering sales more than anything. It has only been out for a few months. Let's wait until it has been out a year and see how sales compare then. The Chevrolet dealership has only had two Colorado's and they both sold within a week or two. The GMC dealership here still hasn't had a single Canyon.

Those guys are fucking morons....all they do is jerk each other off when they drive the guantlet and report to their dumbass followers how fast you can tow up a hill.

Yes, since they only took the truck on gravel roads and light off-roading during the test drive, it must be a joke. Nice deduction there.

This kind of objective, rational thinking is not tolerated on this site. It clearly sucks, because I drive a Tacoma and I say so, damn it! If it ain't a Tacoma, it's shit!

Another all wise and intelligent commercial from chevy. They definitely don't seem like they're setting their sights to high. This one about women wanting a man with a truck, again comparing it to a commuter car.

We shouldn't be rooting for the Colorado to fail, but rather to succeed. If the Colorado succeeds, then perhaps Ford and other's will reconsider their idea that the midsize/compact truck market is a dead and forgotten market. The Tacoma needs competitors. We all just saw what happens when Toyota doesn't have competition, 10 years without an update. The only reason that any company is willing to invest money into a product line is because they have competition that is eating at their market share.

If the Colorado fails, we will got back to just the Tacoma and maybe the Frontier, and eventually all small body on frame vehicles will disappear and be replaced by car based and unibody platforms. If the colorado fails it is very likely that the next generation of the tacoma will be more like the Ridgeline as probably 80% of Tacoma drives (120k of the 150k annual sales) wouldn't know the difference as to most people a vehicle is an appliance and nothing more than that.

You may not like the Colorado, but it is not something that you should be hoping fails. Look at the international market, they have over 10 brands to choose from, all more advanced than the tacoma because they have competition (Ford Ranger and Bantam, VW Amarok, Mistubishi Raider, Toyota Hilux and land cruiser 79, Nissan Navara and NP200, Mazda BT50, Izuzu Colt KB, Chevy's Colorado and UTE, Land Rover Defender 130, etc). The Colorado is in fact probably the best thing to happen to midsize truck market in the USA. I personally love the exterior of the Colorado, but after sitting in one at NAIAS the interior feels and looks 2000-era and the roofline was very low, even without the sunroof I was bumping my head.

A Ford Ranger with the Diesel they brought over here for there new full sized cargo van would be a very attractive option to me. Not because I like Diesels but because my last Ranger was bulletproof when it came to the kind of stuff I was doing with it!
