Man if you don’t want a fun car and sounds like you’ve had many. I see a 4 banger as a good choice especially with tundra for heavy lifting. I only have a 4 banger and man I’m okay with that. It’s great in snow, hauls all I need and gets like 25mpg…. On the highway

Did not read all comments so sorry if this has been double posted. To my knowledge a double cab 4cylinder does not exist. You'll have to step down to an access cab to have the 4 cylinder be available.

It does exist, just not with 4wd.

Makes sense. When I was looking for access cab 4wd's, I was only able to try the 4 cylinder sr access cab, and it reminded of a 4 cylinder 20r I owned back in 1979, just a lot bigger/heavier, but nearly as slow. This test drive made my decision for a 6 cylinder easy.

There are double cabs with the 2.7. They are RWD. They sell them for around 30-32 MSRP here in Virginia.

I'm curious how much difference in power it feels between the double cab and access cab

It’s not exactly like the 3.5 is a dumpster fire. It’s arguably one of the most reliable ICE engines out there

2GR-FKS is literally the most problematic v6 ever put into a Toyota truck

Yea and ? There have been exactly 3 v6 engines in these things. It may be the less reliable of the 3 but so is everything else after modern f/e Standards etc. This V6 is still more reliable than 99% of ice engines out there

If Toyota offered me a 2023, 6 cylinder, Automatic at a no cost trade for my 2017 AC, 4WD, MT, 4 banger, with 60K miles, I would keep my truck.

Same. I'd never waste cash and roll the dice on that goofy Atkinson 3.5

I didn’t say it’s a dumpster fire or that it’s a bad engine. I have one. But it’s not in the league of the 2.7 for reliability.

Ok and ? It’s like the sole attribute of the 2.7 is reliability.

It’s under powered, coarse and unrefined engine that has no business existing in this century. Farm equipment uses better engines nowadays.
