The primary reason our trucks feel gutless is tall gearing.

I love my SC. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Does it make my truck have the same lap time around the nurburgring as an F1 car? No. Does it make it super peppy and fast for a mid-sized truck? You betcha. I stomp the skinny pedal everywhere I go and love every minute of it. Drove a 2016 3.5L yesterday for about an hour and really didn't like how much power it lacked and how much it didn't like to get up and go. Putting a SC on the 4.0 is one of the best mods you can do to this truck.

I think my 4.0 has lots of power even after 194k miles
I do live at sea level and not afraid to rev it up
Maybe some people think engines should have same power at all RPMs and that wont happen unless you have a hybrid with electric motors at the wheels

I don't think anyone has regretted boosting their trucks. I regret not getting one when they were still on the shelf at Toyota for a fair price. Now its like 9 grand installed from local shops. yuck.

If you've been wanting a supercharger for a while and can afford it, get it. Have the dealership install it and reflash the ECU with their tune. Get an aFe Stage-2 Si Pro DRY S CAI if you want the supercharger to breathe better. I had mine installed on my 2013 at 20,000 miles and now hit 50,000 miles with no issues, only boosted fun. No regrets.

All I can tell you about my supercharger is. I didn't install or final tune. This particular upgrade was beyond my skill level. So the fella over in pcola,FL. Did an excellent job I noticed right off the power increase and torque increase. This is not my first experience with supercharger but I will say its been the most fun. 09 access cab 4wd on 33/12.5/20 mud tires. 4ltr. Its a real blast to pull up at a red light next to a new 5.0 pony car and just absolutely bust there tail light to light the only part better is the look on their faces. And off-road in the mud. Mine weights in at a hair over 5500 the bumpers are my own custom build wenches front and rear with just that perfect lift so I have the grandest weight transfer to rear its so cool dragging a old square body Chevy on 40s backwards. But thats all in a day's fun here in the panhandle of FL.

You will be stopping at gas stations a lot with a SC.

I get around 16.5mph and 19 out on the open road which, from what I understand is pretty much in line with what a non-supercharged taco gets.

It's so fun it's worth the extra tank of gas once every four months.:mudding::mudding::mudding:

Nope, i was getting 20mpg highway before i threw on a bed cover.
Theres a bypass valve that while not under high load, causes the blower to only require a portion of a hp to spin.

Is it possible to drive the truck without a tune or reflash? Only because I would have to drive to NY state to get a reflash from a US dealership.

Did it when Toyota still sold them and had them install/tune in 13 when I bought my truck new. 125k on it now and still runs like a champ. If buying for fun, worth it. Practicality though, go full size or diesel. I have a lead foot and don’t enjoy riding behind stupid people in the passing lane on the interstate.

Also, the part that a lot of non S/C and true OR drivers will not acknowledge is the added RPM when on the trails or in a mud hole. This was honestly the biggest unexpected benefit for me in my eyes.

do it if you can afford it and want the fun factor, don’t do it if you’re wanting it to improve practicality of the truck in other departments.
