Hey there. My name is Lukas. I am new to this forum. I am picking up my first Tacoma tomorrow and am pretty pumped. It is a 4Door 2005 SR5 4.0l V6 4x4 paired with the 6 speed manual transmission.

    I also have a 2004 4Runner SR5 4.7V8 4x4 with the automatic transmission.

My question is this. Are the engines interchangeable? i.e. The V8 into the Tacoma but keeping the manual transmission.

The reason being is this: the Tacoma has undergone the frame swap as a result of the recall and the body is great shape. But the km are getting high 370,000 so far. If the engines and transmissions are compatable I can use my 4runners drivetrain to get te best of both worlds.

Thank you I advance, Lukas from the 705
