Just wondering if some folks in the know have deduced that the Access Cab will be phased out over the coming years. It seems like Toyota is putting more emphasis on double cabs given the Trail Version is only available in double cab models.

I'd just get a fullsize truck if the only option on a midsize was a 4dr double cab.

I think Toyota should offer a 4Runner pick up. Only available in DCSB. Could be a single bed and cab/body on TGNA chasis or a traditional cab and bed design. Combine the Trail and Limited features to the truck. Give the 4Runner pick up the unique styling of the 6th gen 4Runner if that isn't the same design on the Tacoma. Maybe with an exclusive higher output engine.

The tacoma could still be offered in all it's current configurations or what will be available on the 4th gen. With more emphasis on value, and trades oriented trucks. The Pro could still be an option on the Tacoma, and the 4Runner pickup.

This would add more overall cost, and go against the traditional Toyota thought process, but Toyota would probably make more money in the long run.

I have an OVRLND cap (similar to a Four-Wheel Camper M-series) on order for my AC Taco so I'd like to stay with a mid-size, 6-foot bed. My Taco has 80K miles on it so looking at replacing it in a 2-4 years.

I don't know the actual numbers but I would make a wild guess that Toyota is making about 40,000 Access Cabs a year. I think they are making a profit.

I think most of the AC's are of the SR model, 2WD with a lot of them in the I4 configuration.

I was lucky to get an AC SR5 V6 4WD... there are exactly 4 of these models exactly like mine in the U.S. right now
all of them selling for $4,000 ~ $6,000 over what I paid.

I like it. If I had a lot of money I'd have a DC as well to sit next to it and keep it company.
I like the AC for lumber and kayak hauling.

i would think not, many people still need a truck with a decent bed for hauling more than a 4 door sedan with a short bed.

There are a ton of trucks in that configuration. AutoTrader brought up over 150 SR5 ACs with a V6 and 4WD

I think eventually. I got lucky finding my AC OR. I got to the point I didn’t care what color, I just had to have an access cab. Not super common so when I see one I get all excited lol.

Sure fucking hope not. I love my second gen access cab cause it means I don’t really have to drive people around. Some day I will likely get a new Tacoma and hope it will be an access cab. Love the extra storage without having to commit to driving people around :anonymous:

I love my access cab! I for one will not buy a double cab with a short bed.

I sold my dcsb v6 6mt so I could get an aclb 4x4 5MT. So much happier in the AC. The rev hang in the 6mt was disgusting and Toyota should be ashamed of themselves.

Don’t think they will discontinue the ac Tacoma . Plenty of ac are being used by different companies for their business. You might see a reduction in builds since more people are buying the double cabs since the ac doesn’t provide enough room for their family or needs .I looked at the ac and liked the setup but it wasn’t enough room for my daily use and I don’t need a 6ft bed .
