    To me it seems like it was rooted from slavery. I mean, yes there's other things involved, but the main premise for the joining of the confederate states was to be separate from the rest of the US and retain their right to keep slavery.

    Makes no sense.. to have won was to preserve the way of life in the South, which includes slavery. So by that statement, the black men who fought was trying to preserve their slave status? :confused:
