the confederate flag is not racist... but it is anti-American! because it represents a group of traitors and rebels to these united States of America

That's fine and to tell you the truth. I like country and bluegrass, that's about it.. nothing else about the South (geographical features, culture, etc..) appeals to me.. the West is where my heart is at. I guess that's why I take on this attitude which you don't share. Totally understandable.

I beg to differ they were Anti-Union and enjoyed thier own type of Culture which was different and still is from Northerners,in essence they didnt want some Northern politicians telling them how they should run thier lives, but also they engaged in Slavery which is not a good thing and the North wanted to Abolish it

Every group of people in the USA have dealt with prejudice some worse than others, most have elevated thier staus above it and are stronger because of it.

I've had some interesting experiences in Gatlinburg, TN to cement my "stereotype". Call it unfair generalization if you will.. and perhaps with more interactions I can take on a different viewpoint.. but for now it is what it is..

Did you go there having a predetermined attitude about Southerners or were you open to thier hospitality?

    It was Gatlinburg in Mid-July,

and thought I stop to have myself a breewwwwww....

An old saloon, in a street of mud,
there at the table, dealin' stud
set the dirty mangy dog who named me Sue.

Once a view is instilled on a group of people it's hard to change that... No offense to ywen, but that's just how it is.

Respect is very important in the South. People get offended very quickly if they get a whiff of Yankee arrogance...of which is quite often unintentional.
