    No,

The surprising thing is the truck I’m driving now is a bone stock TRD Sport 4WD, on the factory street p-rated tires, no mods other than a canopy. Truck is unloaded, with two passengers with minimal luggage.

My 2017 has 1.5” lift on 31” LT BFGs with a canopy and steel back bumper, and easily trounces this 2015 in economy. No question.

As said, I’m really enjoying driving the 2015, but would not trade it’s mileage for mine. If I could have my economy, even with mods, with this 2015 truck’s power, I’d be in heaven.

This is not my scientific test.....nor am I on some sort of 2nd Gen witch hunt. I’m just giving my honest observations.

The 2015 is the first truck where I can actually watch the fuel gauge drop over the course of a few minutes of driving up the highway passes we have been over.

Anyways.......you can take it or leave it. Just what I witnessed.

We all know about Dana. Old news. 2010? 2011+ frames are failing the same way.

Come on HiPSI! You invented the wheel, this bet is a lock for you!!!!

Just to clarify, I'm not a 2nd Gen defender or a 3rd gen basher. They are both excellent vehicles I would be proud to own.

Negative ghost rider ... Dana frames were garbage. But then again 1st gen frames were garbage. 2nd gen POST Dana frames are failing. 3rd gen frames (no different) are rusting away.

Toyota truck frames have been snapping since the 1980's. What makes you think they addressed it in 2016?

Take my bet and let's make it interesting!

10000%. 3rd gen is Great and 2nd gen is Great. Our frames shall snap together.

I truly have no clue. I researched the frame a lot when discussing the perils of a cab mount chop. I know that mild steel, HSLA and UHSLA all react differently in corrosive environments. The 3rd gen frame has a lot more of that than the 2nd gen. We will see.

I’ll take it. It’s only been 2.5 years, but that’s 2.5 in a hella salty state.

Yeah my 2013 is stock too still rolling my 245 winter pizza cutters lol here in Vermont  I'm letting them wear out for getting new ones for next season. I'm pretty happy with truck & want to drive it for as long as I can now that I'm retired.
As far as thread I think the direction is on topic per TW ....it always comes down to mpgs, what tire size, what oil, what lift. :deadhorse:
Happy trails in whatever truck we drive. :burnrubber:

I love my shitty Taco! Dint realize how shitty it is till I started visiting this forum. Until then I was happily blissful with the concept that I’ve been driving trouble free Toyota’s for the majority of my adult life, while all my domestic driving friends constantly shell out big bucks for repairs.

Now I know I’ve been wrong to be happy about that even though I haven’t experienced any problems whatsoever. Thank you Tacomaworld for showing me the error of my ways.

I will now turn into a bitter, Taco bashing douche even though I still like it, so I can be right like the the rest of you bitter taco bashing douches. Thanks for setting me on the right path... :D

Fix it? OK, dad. Well meaning? The only thing you are accurate on here is that "getting this checked may have saved you an enormous hassle and larger sum of money down the road". That's why I did it based upon the "Chicken Little" Toyota transmission bashing posts from people who I had hoped really knew their shit, but I realize now, a lot of people here are just full of shit.

This is unacceptable. 3rd Gen and 2nd Gen must always fight to the death!

Unless there is a Honda, Chevrolet, Ford, or Dodge.... then we can attack until they are destroyed.

We can be friends with Jeeps though.

So sayeth the Tacoma Code of Honor.

Speaking of experts, I'm no expert on how TW works, but I can take a guess on what's about to go down in a minute.

I don't want to spoil anyone's fun, but people who continue to express their frustration because the whole planet is being one giant collective asshole, and continue, and continue, they usually get asked to take a short break.

Ain't my job to suggest that someone go have a beer and unplug from the internet for a few hours, but I am endorsing it as a good idea.

Y'all have a good evening. Unsubbed.

I have no idea what OP is talking about, but this. There are a few people on here who know their stuff and a lot who don't. Just like anywhere. Next time solicit advice at Walmart I guess.
