I used to manually rotate a crank to move the windows up and down on my 2004 Tacoma before I bought my current truck. True story.

So you didn't believe the SA's who get paid to look after you but you believed the free advise you got from the internet.
Time to move back home - you are not ready to be out on your own yet.

This place is getting nasty. It must be all the people quitting Facebook ending up here. I had a thread going discussing this, maybe hoping for a new attitude here, but the mods deleted it. Guess TW likes to be nasty.

I'm confused. Are we supposed to give the OP a group hug for his poor decision making? He is on here blaming nameless members for a decision he made - a decision the dealer service people advised against. I'm sympathetic if he feels like someone screwed him over but honestly he is blaming others for his self created problem which doesn't say a lot for either his life experience level or his character - you choose.

This. It seems like the OP needs more of this in his life. I feel bad if this is his first experience with it - one cannot help ones own environment much - but he will be better off for it.

No, it just seems like everyone goes for the throat lately. Even if the OP invited some of the backlash, I don’t think TW has to respond in kind.

Anyways.....I get it absolutely.....it’s the internet....and not much to do about it. One reason I don’t participate too much other than here and a couple other places that I have an interest in.

You couldn’t pay me to be part of a FB-based Tacoma group. I hope this site doesn’t go Full Retard like those places.

WOW!! If Toyota’s only came with something that would allow us to CHECK the fluid levels ourselves. That would be awesome. But being someone seems incompetent at raising the hood themselves they would have seen that there is such a device under there. It’s called ( just like the OP ) A DIPSTICK!!

Very few cars, if any, have transmission dipsticks anymore. They were found to reduce the reliability of the transmissions, more than they helped people maintain them. My F150, which is the best selling vehicle in North America, has no tranny dipstick. BMW has done away with the oil dipstick as well.

It really depends on perspective, imo.

When I joined in early 2016, I pretty much stayed in the 3rd gen forum.

I liked TW from the start, but woe be to the unsuspecting new 3rd gen owner who wandered in and misspoke in a thread....the virtual ass raping/ meme fuckery from the established "cool kids" was not pleasant.

As it always goes, now 3rd gen owners are capable of some of this activity all on our own... doesn't make it any less unpleasant.

But I still don't get the hatred of the 3rd gen from members who don't own one.

I heard the phrase "sour grapes" recently. Who knows?

    Cheers
