Yep, but the big players, for public entities (largest buyers), are Ford, GM and Chrysler/Ram. Others, such as Toyo and Honda (forget BMW, Mercedes, etc...) are non existent in this market niche.

True. That being said, there are still fleet sales from every automaker, and those sales figures are included when Toyota (for example) says how many Tacomas (for example) they sold in a given timeframe. There are fleet sales to public entities and publicly traded & private companies, all of which contribute to the total number of models sold by a given manufacturer.

All of this is so true, it's funny people tout F series sales and as another user mentioned; they utilize a bunch of fleet sales in that.
Also according to TW, F series isn't the best they just sell them cheaper so they sell more. But Tacoma is the best because they sell the most, not because they have double the production of GM/Nissan/FMC.

That would be nice. Not likely to happen though.

Should have put the 3.5 in the TH and Pro considering how much they cost. And to give the 2.7 and 3.0 v6 options in the ranger a little competition.

They should offer the TTv6 in the new Land Cruiser as well. Give us more reason to buy it over the new 4Runner. They could option the gx with the iforce max v6 to give it an edge over the LC.

Yeah I'd probably trade into one too at some point, but it seems like its not a priority over at Toyota. Gotta have a LB and the TH is a non-starter.

Right, I’m saying make the gx exclusively hybrid TTv6 to keep that performance gap, while offering maybe even the base tuned v6 TT from the tundra in the LC.

To be fair I’ve seen a lot of new LC’s here in Colorado, so they seem to be selling well. I think the new 4Runner will be a hit too. Personally find the 2.4l fits better in the Tacoma than the LC, feels a little underwhelming.

All of the rich soccer moms in my area drive the GX 550 TTv6 with Vossen wheels.

You are underestimating the 46% increase in torque you get from the hybrid, 465 vs 315. The price increase for that step up in performance is perfectly reasonable. Plenty of buyers will see that value.

The ranger raptors v6 makes peak torque of 430 IB-ft at 3500 rpm. The hybrid make 465 lb-ft at just 1700 rpm in comparison. For everyday driving, off-roading or towing that’s going to be the better powertrain.

The raptor is hands down a better dessert runner and 0-60 vehicle. But most truck owners will benefit from the superior low end performance the Tacoma gives. Especially overlanders. Ford doesn’t really have an equivalent trim to the TH.

Tyler from independence overland in his YouTube review says he can pass people going up vail pass while towing a trailer and running 35’s! And he doesn’t feel the need to re gear. If you are familiar with that route and prior gen tacomas, then that should blow your mind.

Can’t blame em. The new GX looks killer, especially in black with those wheels.

No chance Toyota would consider swapping out powertrains, especially when the ones they already have are really good. A TRD Pro with a TTV6 might be my fantasy, but it would also be even more expensive, and cost is already the biggest problem with Pro.

If Toyota needs a low-cost idea to sell more Pro’s, then they probably should just get rid of standard IsoDynamic seats and call it a day.

I'm not sure toyota has a hard time selling any of these upper trim level trucks. For every guy on TW waiting for the price to come down there's 20 tech bros with disposable income lined up out the door trying to get one. They couldn't care less about turbos or batteries, they just want the shiny new object every few years

I’m sure it’s coming. The GX 550 gas mileage leaves a lot to be desired, not that most of the owners care.

Definitely, especially since they eat up what little legroom exists in the double cab. Make those seats an option for the folks that want them. I'm not the target audience for the pro, but if I wanted one, I couldn't buy it because of those seats. I still use the backseat enough.

Yeah, all those oil changes I gotta pay for to keep the electric motor running reliably really add up. "maintenance" he says. :D

Seriously man, don't buy a hybrid. They clearly didn't make it for you. Leaves 1 more hybrid on the lot for someone who wants it.

Ford introduced a tune for the 2.7 Ranger yesterday, can't wait to see a drag race between a tuned 2.7 Ranger and iForcemax Tacoma. Both trucks are going to be slow but one of them will have a faster time.

I wonder if Ford offers a Rwd 2.7 Ranger?
