You will definitely need to do something...because the rearview mirror is once again too low and a sight nuisance. I had to glue another metal button tab above the factory one to fix the problem just like I did in my 2nd Gen.

I bought a riser bracket and then read this thread, so never tried to install it. Regarding the double pivot, I was unaware of this feature until I read this thread. I adjusted it today and was able to raise the mirror about 2 inches, so visibility is much better. Mirror could go about 1 inch higher (any more and it would hit the headliner) but it isn't bad after I adjusted it. I am 6'2".

The standard, Immryo riser bracket is too long fit the OEM mirror, bracket mount. It bumps against a metal, roof support beam so that it can't be raised high enough to fit over the OEM mirror, bracket mount. I shortened the standard Immryo riser bracket by approximately 10 mm and am waiting on a wiring plug adapter (I'm keeping the auto-dimming, compass, HomeLink mirror out of my previous Taco) to complete the install of the HomeLink mirror. I assume the shortened Immryo riser bracket will fit and the mirror will be positioned perfectly. I will take photos of the difference in riser bracket length and mirror positioning when I get it installed. I'm hoping to receive the plug adapter tomorrow, so with any luck I will have a "conclusive" answer for whether or not the Immryo riser can be modified to help improve the mirror position in the 2016 Tacos.

I recently installed the same gentex mirror in my 2016. The plugs are different, so I spliced into the factory harness above the overhead console. I was planning on re-wiring it anyways because I park the truck outside and I don't want the homelink buttons to work unless I'm driving it. It was super easy.

The double jointed bracket on the gentex homelink mirror allows the mirror to go nearly all the way to the headliner. I would assume the stock mirror does the same

Ok. Here is the word. The Immryo mirror riser bracket . . . will not work. I was excited to get the plug adapter to be able to use an existing HomeLink mirror I had, but after 20 minutes of PITA work getting the mirror installed on the bracket then installed on the windshield (found out the hard way the mirror HAD to be attached to the riser before mounting the riser to the windshield) I discovered the mirror would not adjust high enough to view out the back window (it bumped into the headliner). The Immryo mirror riser bracket raises the mirror mount point approximately 2½". If there were a bracket that raised the mounting point approximately 1½", that would be perfect.
Hopefully the word documents with embedded photos are viewable. If they aren't I will figure another way to upload some reference photos.
At any rate. My final, personal, decision on using the Immryo mirror riser bracket is no.

I'm really glad I read this thread. I didn't even notice the dual swivels.

The mirror is no longer blocking every inch of the right side of the windshield.
