Why do you hit the unlock button on the fob in the first place if you have no intentions of entering the cab or even opening the door? Just curious.

    This^

How would the OP be left "high and dry" after a relock??

Maybe it's this senario.... Unlock the truck from the house and leave the keys on the counter, go out to the truck and it locks before you get in it...... go back inside to unlock it and discover you locked yourself out of your own house too.

.... NOW you've just left yourself High and Dry! ;)

It's not to idiot-proof it from the owner... if you're going to leave it unlocked, you're just going to get out and walk away, it won't lock itself.

It's to re-lock in case your code happens to match the code of someone parked nearby. Someone else could unknowingly unlock your truck and drive their own car off, leaving your truck unlocked until you return.

There's a crapton of codes, but there are more Toyotas than there are codes. Just like your key, there are other remotes out there running your code.

I have a power tailgate and canopy lock. So I have to use the fob to unlock the back.

Ok, so maybe it won't leave me high and dry its just an annoyance for the way I do things. I don't need a car to 'smart' about locking 'relocking itself' since after living in Baltimore for a few years its hardwired into me. Plus I live in a safe area.

I was looking into to getting techstream to disable the seatbelt alarm among other things and was hoping there would be an option for that, but I guess not....

Been looking around the web and have only found the usual stuff, turn off the beep, lock door on start, unlock on shut off. Nothing to disable the feature you need.
I use it as a game to get my kid to hurry up. I hit the button and tell him to open the door before it locks, he runs to the car :D

I found out about this feature the hard way! I was at the store and it was pouring down rain. I decided to run for it, so I hit the unlock button, then ran thru the rain to the truck. but, by the time I got to the truck, it relocked itself!

If you hit the unlock button twice in a row, won't it stay unlocked?

No, once unlocks the drivers door, twice the other doors. If you don't open a door within 30 seconds, it re-locks.

Winch, front hitch, step bars, bed extender, bed step, gull-wing toolbox, tailgate lock, security system, cb radio, etc.
Perhaps now might be a good time to point out that this auto-relock feature also reactivates the alarm system (Toyota VIP RS3200 Plus - turned off by the key flob when the doors are unlocked) in addition to relocking the doors. That alone keeps me from wanting to override, or otherwise mess with, this feature.

The engine immobilizer is not deactivated unless a key is present, so not an issue here.
