Greetings TW. I was underneath my new DCLB OR greasing my U-Joints when I noticed what appears to be missing screws or bolts in the transmission case. I am no gear head, so hoping someone can tell me if this is a problem or not.

First picture posted on TW, so let me know if it's not clear enough.

Adding pic to show they are threaded.

Welcome to TW. Your picture came out just fine

I don't have a 2016 myself, but now that you point this out, I'm pretty curious.

Do base models use a mechanical linkage instead of push button? If so Id bet that's where it bolts? Just a guess.

very common for parts to share across models and even countries. It's entirely possible that those are used for some international version with a mechanical linkage, skid plates or other accessories.

Sounds like it's nothing to worry about, but I would have thought the same thing.

Sometimes threaded holes like that are used during assembly and transportation to hold the piece In some fashion.

Those are normal. Like mentioned earlier, the transfer case on these trucks are used on a few other Toyota vehicles. They're mounting holes for different applications. Nothing to worry about! Good to be curious though!
