    See build thread in signature
Look at the bell housing. The Engine is in front of it.. transmission toward the ass.

:eek:OKAY. just finished. i was right and drained the oil. not sure how anybody could drain something else but whatever.

overall went pretty easy id say. not something i think i would do again just because it was a real tight fit under the truck for me lol. noticed there was no drain plug gasket when i pulled it off, jiffy lube monkeys who did it previously probably never put it back on.

can anything bad happen if i tighten the drain plug too tight? didnt have a torque wrench but id say i made it pretty tight.

just drove 20 miles too and no check engine light or oil light and the temp gauge is right where its supposed to be so hopefully i did it right.

dont gorilla that plug on there. on the positive side, i bet that oil pan is cake to change out, should anyone strip a drain plug hole.

    nice job on the DIY.

Mine has a firm rubber gasket on the drain plug. I drive my truck up on Rhino ramps, that gives my fat old body plenty of room under there lol

It sounds like you did everything right, good for you :)

i jack up one side (and put a jack stand udner the frame (duh))

glad to see somebody was able to do a basic oil changge without getting the tranny screwed up.

i just don't understand how somebody can't tell where teh engine ends and the transmission begins.

For those of you who said you didn't have a crush washer (rubber gasket) on the drain plug - check the oil pan the next time you pull the plug. The washer usually sticks to the pan and is kind of invisible unless you are looking for it.
