I am not trying to step on or put anyone down, but is the PRO model really worth the $10,000 more than a OR?

I am not getting one, I am very happy with my road warrior Sport, just want the poll

It's not 10k more though. The closest comparison is to a premium and tech Off Road. MSRP on that is in the 40s.

Yes and no. I guess the deciding factor would be disposable income . I purchased my 16 OR before they were available. I'm still happy with my decision even though I've spent the extra cash on mods . I just really like and use my sunroof .

Toyota has devalued their Pro by bringing the exclusive colors down to the plebes. Sure, you can get a basic off road and beg for months in the hood swap thread and maybe get a scoop hood--probably won't--then do the BHLM, then get the pro grill, clear tail lights, katzkin seat covers, upgrade the suspension, buy new wheels and tires, and perhaps have a better truck. Or you can buy the Pro if you like how it is configured and enjoy it.

For me it's just another trim level with stuff I didn't want or need. I guess what would push me towards one is a color I absolutely had to have.

Fortunately, QS was available in the DCLB OR. And you get to build the suspension you want. Only downside was no MT in the DCLB.

IF I had the disposable cash to spend on it, I'd own one. But I don't even need an OR... my SR serves my purposes and then some.

Worth it? Depends I guess. I had a few reasons for selling my 15 SR5, the biggest of which was the interior. Getting dog fur out of cloth weaves is a huge pain in the ass. So the seats alone in the Pro were worth it to me. Pickup is tomorrow afternoon, getting pretty pumped at this point.

If you plan on putting 10k of mods into your OR/Sport (and have the cash to do so), then no it's not worth it. For me? I roll some factory mods into my monthly price; although it isn't exactly what I would do if I was modding an OR/Sport, it has what I need and the unique look turns heads (until Cav blue is released on the 19s).

Good discussion so far, thank you for the replies. If I had the money and wanted a Tacoma for Overlanding or to really do some serious offloading, I would purchase the DCSB OR in MT or a SR5 DCSB AT. This way I would use the "savings" to choose my own suspension, armor, and other needed goodies.

Judging from all the threads I've read regarding this subject the price difference seems to be between $4-5K. From a macro economic perspective the PRO or any other product is worth what the buyer is willing to pay. From a logistic perspective you can easily use that $4-5K to mod an Off Road. The answer to your question is subjective: If it's worth it to the buyer then it's worth the price difference. A person who makes $500K per year vs. $50K per year will have a difference perspective on the $4-5K price difference. Resale value not withstanding, some owners will put an intrinsic value on exclusivity and rarity on the PRO. IMO get the PRO if it makes you happier and you can financially own the truck responsibly!

I didn't vote because there wasn't a "Yes - well worth the extra 20g-22g" option.

17' DCSB OR MT on fox 2.5 with resi + dsc adjusters, 2.0 rear w adjusters, Dakar pack, jba UCA, voodoo rack, tepui tent, Kenwood ham radio, pro grill, Caliraised ditch lights, aux fuse panel. Rci skid plate. Duratracs

Still over $2,500 less than the pro.

Like the other guy said. All in what your intentions are. Somewhere in between slamming off rocks and spending time In the woods is where the pro makes great sense of room the OR for a premium truck

If you plan on upgrading the suspension/tires anyway, my vote would be go with the TrD Off Road with premium/tech packages to save a little cash. It’s essentially the same truck otherwise, minus the badges, hood scoop, and color. If you don’t want to deal with modding out your OR, then I’d say go with the pro.
